Rough past 3 days from a win bet standpoint, going 1 for 14 but 6 seconds in there. ROI is still showing a profit at $2.34 for 39 races (10 wins)

2nd-CATHRINE MARIE. Might be a good spot for a layoff horse. The 3-1 favorite according to Brisnet is 0 for 31 and another 5-1 shot is 0 for 26. This one has some competitive numbers and was out of a dam who was a nice Illinois bred. At least she's only failed 6 times.

7th-WINAPRIZE- ships in from FG where he ran for 5000. This one may have been getting eligible for starter races in his last. Almost all have some questions in here.

8th-TIMELY ENDING is coming out of a decent open 14000 race; probably as good as most NW1Xs at Haw. Figures to be up close but doesn't have to have the lead. There appears to be about 3 others who will insist on the lead.

Just watching today to try to get a feel for Hawthorne...what were these people thinking making the 7 horse 2-1 in the 8th race? As one not familiar with Chicago racing, is OP considered that much superior? His two races since his return from a long layoff were easily slower than more than half the starters in this race.

For what its worth, I would have selected the 2 who ran 3d, so eliminating bad faves doesn't guarentee you'll hit a race, but its a good start.
