Sad news. He gave me my first win and only stakes win as an owner. He was a kind and genuine man. May his soul rest in peace.

A fantastic horseman by all accounts. One of the giants of American steeplechasing.

Very sorry to hear the news. His gelding, John's Call, was a favorite of mine.

RIP.

I remember his name from so many years ago and liked how he could transition his horses successfully from steeplechase to flats , either way
with success . .
Those of you who view facebook can catch a touching tribute to him on
Jazz Napravnik's wall .
Gone too soon !

RIP !

His horses could always be counted on to run at Saratoga and usually at a nice price. Wonder what his ROI was say 1995-2005.

Rest in Peace

Not a chemist, not a fly by night charlatan. His numbers dropped on the flat as the wonders of modern chemistry took hold, like alot of the true horsemen of the older generation.

Cookie, Johns Call, Anofferucantrefuse, Perfect Match, Bupersrose, Fractious, Mickey Free, Slip Away...too many nice horses to remember them all.

I have followed his stable forever, and made a few bucks, and got to watch multiple generations of his runners make it to the races from his small scale breeding operation. I remember a quote from him that he loved training them, but hated racing them, because of what might happen. Just a classy, classy operation.

My sincere condolences to his family, he will be missed.
