must have been named after old time jock agent Dixie Shea. last i remembered Dixie worked for Carlos Marquez when he rode Concerto in the Kentucky Derby for George Steinbrenner.

Dixie was around Monmouth Park last summer, had the book of Jose Ferrer if I remember correctly. Dixie Shea, the horse, ran at Monmouth once last year too.

Dixie Shea, the horse, ran at Monmouth once last year too.i knew he was there, he worked for Jose about 4 times that i remember. he had some decent riders though out the years, everyone on the backside loved Dixie. he has to be at the lucky age of 77 now.
