Ran across this site on another board.

A girl with a motorcycle and a camera tours the dead zone. Very interesting.

What kind of mind takes a picnic journey thru something called "the dead zone?" Does she not see her own pictures of guys in decon suits? She must think they dress that way to make a fashion statement. Also, what happens when you ride a bike thru this dead zone and run out of gas?

Actually, Chernobyl has become something of a tourist attraction, especially for those who like to watch wildlife. Since all the people were evacuated, a great many wild animals have moved in. It is an especially popular destination for bird watchers. I have a friend who added 80 some species to his "life list" on a visit there. He was told that the background radiation is no worse in a day than x-rays at the dentist. Don't know if that is true, but it sure isn't killing the birds.

I enjoy being weird, it's the lack of money that keeps me from being eccentric.
