And there is thread here about a congressman wishing his constituents a Merry Christmas in an email. There is no end to it. Some parts of the country has gone completely bonkers over trying to prevent the Christmas message. Grinches, all of them.

bonkers is polite, not quit what I had in mind, but considering the season, acceptable.

Hospital Bans Christmas Carolers From Singing Religious Songs.

First few paragraphs.....

AUGUSTA, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – An Augusta hospital has adopted a new policy banning Christmas carolers from singing religious songs in public patient areas.

The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center announced the new policy Monday according to the Athens-Banner Herald.

“Military service veterans, male and female, represent people of all faiths,” hospital spokesman Brian Rothwell said in a statement according to Athens-Banner Herald. “It is out of respect for every faith that The Veterans Administration gives clear guidance on what ‘spiritual care’ is to be given and who is to give it.”

Makes sense. BFD

"In order to be respectful of our veterans' religious beliefs, all donated holiday cards are reviewed by a multi-disciplinary team of staff led by chaplaincy services and determined if they are appropriate (non-religious) to freely distribute to patients. We regret this process was not fully explained to this group and apologize for any misunderstanding."

Is it not against the law to open someone else's mail?
These are not prisoners and criminal, they are our veterans!

The head of the VA needs to be fired today.

Screening Christmas cards is lame, but if I was an orthodox Jewish veteran I might not appreciate a Xmas card. Personally I don't give a shit. But trying to be politically correct does not constitute a war on Christmas. Bureaucrats screw up all the time. So what?

Yes, I recognize that there are knuckleheads out there who mandate “holidays” and banish “Christmas” in ways that are unnecessary, silly and offensive to many people of faith. But do bungled efforts at “inclusion” rise to the level of an organized “war” against Christians? I don’t think so.

In reality, the shift from the religious Christmas to a secular holiday is nothing new or planned. Cultural Christmas in America — celebrations that culture warriors insist we call “Christmas” — has had little to do with Christ for a very long time. From the emergence of jolly St. Nick in the 19th century to the economic engine of today, Christmas-sans-Christ has a life of its own in the popular imagination.

...Hand-wringing about Christmas without Christ is a time-honored tradition in American history, starting with the 17th century Puritans of New England. For our Puritan forbearers, Dec. 25 feasts and celebrations were an abomination — a sinful holiday held on a day stolen from pagans, filled with trees, mistletoe and other pagan trappings that have nothing to do with the birth of Jesus (which almost certainly took place at another time of year).

Judeo-Christian tradition and beliefs are under attack.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Fls6yfx7fs&feature=player_embedded

First, Judeo-Christian America has differed from Christian countries in Europe in at least two important ways. One is that the Christians who founded America saw themselves as heirs to the Hebrew Bible, as much as to theirs. And even more importantly, they strongly identified with the Jews.
For example, Thomas Jefferson wanted the design of the seal of the United States to depict the Jews leaving Egypt. Just as the Hebrews left Egypt and its values, Americans left Europe and its values (if only those who admire Jefferson would continue to take his advice).

A war against what?

How are anyone's beliefs under attack?

Yeah, maybe I just don't get it, but it seems to me that if I'm trying hard to see it out, what might be under attack is the institutionalization of those beliefs.

But, that doesn't sound quite right if you are the one claiming persecution.

Obviously all this backflipping desire to not offend people that are constantly looking to be offended is a disgrace itself, but I don't quite buy into the train of logic that the beliefs themselves are being attacked.

I think if you were a wounded soldier in a VA hospital at Christmas time, you would welcome anyone's wishes for your good will.

NO ONE has the right to tell ANYONE what they can or cannot receive in the mail.

The cards weren't mailed. The kids that made them were going to hand-deliver them in person. Which makes it even worse, keeping a bunch of kids from visiting vets at Christmas.

You mean like making Christmas a national legal holiday. :p

What about all the people that are offended by getting a paid holiday on Dec. 25?

Hey, I'm just trying my best to see it through their eyes. Most of the examples cited in this "war" fall under that category, in my opinion. Judeo-Christian beliefs as prominent drivers of cultural norms and laws might be under attack as the dominant force, or at least I can see the argument.

But it isn't as though Churches are being run out of town and the Bible is hidden on the high shelf behind the counter out of customers' sight.

Anyone getting paid for that holiday should have to sign a waiver for ever making any negative comments about Christmas, and be required to say Merry Christmas when they get the check.

So let's take this a step farther - why are American women wearing covering over their heads in the Middle East? the muslims should understand that their beliefs are offensive to many of us. So, for the holiday, twerk a mullah!

Self-preservation from the mad men roaming the streets. Usually in police uniforms.
