There is a post in the cancellation thread that a study at PARX showed slot handle goes up on live racing days. Anyone seen/heard this elsewhere?

If this is true it could explain why some racinos arent pushing so hard to get rid of racing.

Would be curious to see actual studies etc.

idk, the slots at parx are in a completely different building.

maybe husbands are dropping their wives off at parx and heading over to parx east for the racing???

i'd be interested to know what percentage of parx live racing fans have no connection to the backstretch? at penn national this percentage has to be low.

my guess would be that 90% of the people are either trainer's, exercise rider's, hot walker's, grooms. vets. and employees walking around the place pretending that they are important.

it helps to camouflage the casino from reality, where all they want are warm bodies in the place so that they have their shot to stick these peoples in front of slot machines and clean them out.

I dont' know if this is off the beaten path or not, but has anyone ever talked about these slots tracks and the payouts? Would i be foolish to assume they pay off as well as slot machines in large las vegas casinos?

Comps anymore anywhere are pathetic.......if you think about it why would u need comps at parx? No hotel and jail food........

And yes the machines are 100 percent tighter then slots at A racino then a standalone casino

Proximity casinos don't appreciate us bettors anymore........I went to chuckville and I'm a "guest" at all times  refuse to get a card

if you get a card at ct you can sign yourself up for games on that computer thing to the right of the podium. this is good for introverts like me who don't like trying to talk with the ct floor. :)

Last Saturday night, Saratoga harness did 188k handle and gave out ~105k in purses.

I'm pretty sure Saratoga Casino can't wait to give the harness end the boot.

It's the biggest mystery in the world how they give out 129k in purses and handle 140k for night.....5 nights a week....

How the casinos don't boycott cuz of giving money to chemist trainers I'll never know

this.

instead of staying in school, getting good grades and going to college the more lucrative path now is to drop out of jr high and head to your local backside with ambitions of someday becoming a juice trainer.

tripling purses with slots while players with the talent to bat over 0.900 at your track are losers.

Avg slots payouts (the higher, the better for the player):

PRX 90.6%
CT 90%
Las Vegas Strip (varies widely by denomination) 92.5%
AQU 91.5%
Atlantic City 91%

Let me try and clarify.......I can see slots at aqueduct being better then Atlantic city casinos.......but there's no shot that places like Saratoga harness Dover downs and Yonkers are paying out better then say harrahs or borgata.....impossssible

in my own experience in the mid-atlantic i've done the best at bally's a.c.

they're both hollywood properties but penn national seems a lot better than charles town.

the sands (bethlehem, pa) is probably the worst. i hardly ever even win a single spin there. get two cherries or mixed bars on a double diamond machine from time to time.

Wrong again...

Saratoga Harness 91.8%
Yonkers 91.8%
Dover 92%

Harrah's AC 91.3%
Borgota AC 91.7%

It's best not to make statements based on feel.

In a meeting a few years ago one of the finance folks said, "We need more Super Derbies" because of the coin-in figure produced on Super Derby Day. Without a doubt, racing does boost slot performance.

Ok I'm only in the industry so I won't comment anymore on things I have zero clue in.....once again you win

As for proximity it's nice they throw u a bone with a cherry or 2.....

I've never heard of any big scores at sands....place is a glorified slot dungeon....a refurbished steel plant.....my fAther went there Monday night cuz his local 5-10 limit Omaha high and Holdem game takes there "holiday break" him and his friend spilled into that gem.....perfect example of north central jersey money drifting into other states pockets....

There choices included : parx sands mt airy.....ac never even got brought up

No need to get upset WW - you just made an incorrect assumption.

If I had a gun to my head id say Saratoga harness has the tightest slots in history of mankind........I lost $60 playing video poker and had queens one hand....it's a horror show

Not upset in the least just surprised the New York State would "allow" people to actually win!!!!!! Stay away from those bandits SM!!!!

I only play simulcast (and an occasional live race) at S Harness.

It stands to reason that anything that increases traffic will increase handle.
