Folks will be interested to know that the $5000 maximum daily winnings cap has been implemented as quickly as day 1 of the contest. Good news for the rest of us, as the uncapped score would have been $14,262 and a huge advantage after just the opening day. (With my current skill with P4 wagers, the $5,000 leader total might have eliminated ME already.) :D

Also noteworthy is that our 2013 PACS Winner is already in 2nd place.

I need to stop using The Racing Channel for payouts, as they did not show the scratches in the last race when the betting favorite won. For payouts under $500 where NYRA pays to the nearest 50 cents, The Racing Channel has also been known to consistently leave off the 50-cent amount.

You get the PTF (Post Time Favorite) in place of each of the scratches:

For example:

Your ticket is $2 --> 4 // 1 // 3 // 1,6,7 ($6)
The 6 and 7 in the forth leg are scratched.
The #8 is the PTF and wins.

Your revised ticket becomes $2 --> 4 // 1 // 3 // 1,8,8 ($6).
Your individual tickets would be:
$2 --> 4 // 1 // 3 // 1 ($2)
$2 --> 4 // 1 // 3 // 8 ($2)
$2 --> 4 // 1 // 3 // 8 ($2)

If the winning P4 sequence is 4-1-3-8, you would receive twice the $2 payout, capped at a total of $5000.

Check my Sunday picks, I think I had it twice( $2.00 pay out instead of $1.00) with the scratch of #2 Miss Narcissist going to the post time favorite #4 Flipcup who I also had as one of my selections. Tricky judging with those late scratches.

In summary - the scratches in Race 8 (Leg 3 of the Late Pick 4) were not included in the Official Result Chart so no credit for scratches substituting for the Post Time Favourite in Race 8 can be given.

The Official Result (per DRF, Equibase, BRIS, etc) was: 5-9-4-5 and did not include any of the scratched horses in races 7 and 8. If the DRF Result Chart had shown any of those scratched horses in the official mutuel result, credit would have been given for them (as it was for the Day 1, 12/14 Late Pick 4, re Race 9).

I, however, think it should be for $2 since I had a scratch in the 1st leg of the early P4 and the favorite won that leg (i.e. the #4 scratched out of race 2 and the #1 won that race and the #1 was the post time favorite). I had both the #4 and the #1 selected in race 2.

Short and simple answer, Aqueduct treats "early scratches" in the Pick 4 as refunds, which is why the #4 is not shown in the office payout numbers.

No problem with your questions. We went thru this very same thing earlier in this year's version of the Ridersup contest. What contest management decided is that in general we are not going to put ourselves in the position deciding what the payout numbers "should" be. There are entities responsible for reporting the correct info, and we are going to score according to their posted info. Specifically, we decided beforehand to use the charts from the Daily Racing Form. If subject info is found to be in error and subsequently corrected by the DRF, we will re-score the player's selections according to the corrected info. Otherwise, we will go with the originally posted info.

Given that this contest is free to enter and run by volunteers, it is "my" opinion that responsibility for investigating possible payout number errors resides with the player, as it is he/she who stands to be impacted negatively. Further info on who to contact can be found somewhere in one of 2013-2014 Ridersup threads. (Was this poster MONEY who found the right person to contact?).

For whatever reasons, errors have happened more than once, but those responsible don't seem motivated to put in place a process to eliminate them. Maybe because the tote system always has the correct info in it so that "real" tickets are always evaluated correctly. (Remember that "contest world" has a life all its own so in a number of ways it does not operate and function like "real ticket" world.).

You overbet, and the $1 winner ticket was a casualty.

The ticket is shown below, and gives me an opportunity to illustrate for everyone the process by which tickets are systematically modified to bring them into compliance with the total wager cost requirement.

$1 - 1,3,5,6//1,2,4,8//4,6,7//2,8 = $96
$10 - 6/4//4,6,7//6,8 = $60
$1 - 1,3,6//1,4//4,6,7//2,9 = $36
$1 - 6//4//1,4,6,7//2,6,8 = $12
$1 - 5//4//6,7//6,8,9 = $6
= $200

This selection total is actually $210 and not $200, so we need to eliminate $10.
First we reduce the base bet of the last ticket (which is in blue) by $1. This eliminates the entire ticket, but the total selection cost only drops from $210 to $204.
Second we reduce the base wager of the next to last wager (which is in red) by $1. This eliminates the entire ticket, and with the total selection cost now at $192, it is in compliance and needs no further reductions.
