“This is an Issue of Human Survival.”

"Should the attempt fail, the rods could be exposed to air and catch fire, releasing horrific quantities of radiation into the atmosphere. The pool could come crashing to the ground, dumping the rods together into a pile that could fission and possibly explode. The resulting radioactive cloud would threaten the health and safety of all us."

I really do hope this article is wrong.

Where's that guy who was posting on here shortly after this first happened, telling me I was wrong when I said this thing was way worse than they were letting on...

Nobody posted about it on here, but over the past 6 months or so various articles have been coming out detailing how there is STILL radioactive water leaking into the Pacific and into the ground in Japan...

I can't wait to read the article at the link above...

One of the best articles I've read about spent fuel storage, nuclear energy policies and where the blame for the problems lie is found here:

http://www.hoover.org/publications/defining-ideas/article/71596

This is a well thought out argument the author makes, a brilliant fellow I've heard interviewed several times on the radio.

For now, we are petitioning the United Nations and President Obama to mobilize the global scientific and engineering community to take charge at Fukushima and the job of moving these fuel rods to safety.

Obama would be the last person I'd want to help on this. Hell he could not even appoint competent people to oversee a simple WEBSITE build and roll out.
