Just read news about the Vox populi award. Personally I feel that this award should go to Mucho Macho Man or Paynter. They have both been in the news for over two years consistently and for all sorts of good reasons. MMM has been a profile of courage going through struggles and issues to finally cap it off with a lovely win of the BC Classic earlier this month.

Paynter, of course, an absolutely fantastic story of grit and determination. After thinking about it again, I am going to give my vote to Paynter.

Not much of a Paynter fan, and definitely not an Ahmed Zayat fan, but I think the award should go to Paynter.
What a courageous guy to fight off death and return at a very high level.
My vote goes to him.

He won it last year for the very same reason.
I am a Paynter fan, but I would fall short of voting for him twice.

The horse that I would pencil in is Comma To The Top
In winning the G3 Tom Fool at AQU, he won a graded stakes sprint
a week after narrowly losing at Santa Anita in another stakes race.
Shipping coast to coast in between picking up nice checks. He's a stud!

The horse may not be the best in the country, but few have as much heart.

I voted for Princess of Sylmar because I believe she was terrific in the toughest division this year. Not skipping the Distaff also elevated the filly in my eyes.

For the record, Wise Dan could have wrapped this up at Royal Ascot in June but ran in the Firecracker instead where he paid $2.40 to win. There was no show wagering. Need I say more.

if HOY can be given to same horse in consecutive years, I am fine with continuing Vox populi for same horse too :)

It's very tough . Everyone of these deserves the vote . I'm giving my nod
to Groupie Doll . She did not disappoint as she enters a new chapter in hefr life . The Bradley's have been rewarded deservedly well .

Oops - forgot he won it last year.

How about Animal Kingdom as a write in candidate ?
