View Full Version : Current class levels at Gulfstream

I haven't looked at Gulfstream in a long time.

In Race 1 tomorrow, I like #4 Lucky Black, solely because she's the only horse that doesn't come out of the South Florida circuit, which is probably currently filled with cheap horses no matter what the levels say.

But are they? Do you think the proper thing to do is see a current MSW 50k at Gulfstream as a maiden claimer anywhere else? That's how I'm handicapping them, but I want to read some opinions.

She faded to 3rd twice at 6.5f & 5f. Either going to fade again or they're setting her up. Some early speed in the race too. She might have a shot if it doesn't get caught up in a speed duel. :6: looks sharp, should improve on 2nd outing. They usually do. :3: is a FTS with first time Lasix, has 4 5f works in the last 22 days which is good, but they aren't that great. Then there's the :7:. Big improvement 2nd outing and closed 5 legnths 4W to take 2nd. Also had a jockey change and he's back on her again. :8: doesn't look to shabby either. Think the :4: might be in a tough spot here. Race shape might work against her. I would look for 6/7 7/6 finish with the :8: & :4: not far behind. The :3: is a big question mark though but probably won't be anything more than a pace factor. That's my two cents.

Good idea, see if you find a race where it fits perfectly.

These are 2yos which makes it more confusing, and these are claimers which makes it even more confusing.

I like the :6:

the :7: would be my 2nd choice.

r2

:2: - he tried to step up to allowance , and he's back where he belongs , catches a weak field

:7: - has some class at least relative to these others

:1: - also has some class, suspicious drop IMO

I can see the 2 doing better in here, 'cept those last two races just look way too similar, times, etc.....beware

1. Dam sire was precoscious. starting career near bottom level
2. probably tuckered....not!...finished first
3. trainer of one also....may have best shot with this one...2nd, I bet show
4. some of these starships just don't run...this is one of those
5. offered at lowest career level and has been exclusively turf
6. Charlestown race way back in May....good enuff for 3rd.....
7. seems to prefer other surfaces, but otherwise fits w/these
8. just doesn't wanna
9. small miracle required

In Race 3, I thought the :3: didn't have the best of trips. But, maybe I'm just bitter because I picked her on top.

she(3) mayn't have beaten the winner anyway, and she (3) was my choice..waiting was the key to her finishing well in this spot.

wow

looks like the the 5-2 exacta was hammered late ! :D

2-5 is gonna pay $100. (twice as much as the 1-5).

but now the final exactas show 5-2 as 29.80 (LESS than the 5-1)

someone had some insight that I didn't have.

They should have trusted their horse to win.

I hope they used it in the rainbow six...
(maybe the 5-2 was the backup)

I had that :4: singled 3rd and 4th in superfectas , not on top however.

He won that race like it was a walk in the park. I only gave him some consideration because his synthetic race at Keeneland was better than it looked.

Race 5

I think River Pride and Hy Kodiak Warrior are traps and both should be ignored on the top slot, but if I'm wrong oh well.

I went with :1: :3: :4: :7: in the pick 4.

I thought it was a little bogus they took the last race off the turf considering every other turf race stayed on. I just wasn't paying close enough attention to the changes before I made my late double I guess.
