Amazingly enough, its not. They repeat the same stuff over and over every week. The league apparently controls what the coaches do and the coaches then tell their rosters what to do in order to conform to how the NFL wants the games to turn out. Seems reasonable, right? :bang: :bang:

The Texans game looks like a game where Houston has a quarterback playing much better than Schaub did and the Colts have an offense sorely missing their best receiver.

I am somewhat of a conspiracy guy in general but your theory about the NFL being somehow fixed is absurd.

OK. If you are going to make an assertion over and over and over and over and over, probably a good idea to be able to explain why and how it happens.

Many are familiar with the idea of betting against the public, which you have done with success in the pool. However, that seems to have little correlation with the games being "rehearsed". It just shows that most people are wrong when they pick games, especially ones that seem obvious where Vegas knows better.

Show me where I ever said blackjack is fixed........in my opinion and I think at 32 I'm sharper then most thinking u can count cards when 70-110 cards are buried is comical

The nba is fix free.....just ask the nba ref a few years ago

I'm sure the NFL refs don't throw flags to get a extra first down to get that 7 or throw a phantom flag for holding to get that under home

See, here (the bolded part) is where I think you miss the "boat".....

Sure, there was an instance where a ref in the NBA got caught. I am sure there have been other instances as well in other sports. Problem is, there would have to be so many involved to make the "rehearsed" happen. The government cant even keep secrets, yet players who are out getting in trouble all the time can???????? That is the only thing laughable.

In this weeks picks, A LOT of people had my beloved Saints as BB. I guess the fix was in on that game as they stunk the joint up. Or did you have it right, therefore it was all legit???

Tampa came out and played with intensity. The ran a few gimmick plays and got a lead. Problem is, in the end they lost to the BETTER team. Sure, Vegas had that spread high and Seattle has been a pretty good team at home the past few years. Today, they probably overlooked TB a little and got caught early on.

To say that either college, or NFL, games have fixed outcomes on a regular basis is, in my opinion, far from the truth.
Can it happen? I wouldn't doubt it.

Here's an old article on the subject:

http://www.moldea.com/nfl.html

From personal experience, I worked in legal bookmaking for many years.
There was one occasion, in January 2002, in a meaningless Monday night game, where my suspicions were raised.

The reason I paid special attention to the outcome was that a manager work colleague had told me that a contact of his (a bookmaker in Louisiana) had mentioned that the Vikings were "going to lie down" against Baltimore that night.
Did I run down the street with a fist full of cash to bet "the lock"? No.
But it did catch my interest....

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200201070rav.htm

The Ravens had been pretty heavily bet before the game - the opening -10 had risen as high as -13. The money was understandable, though, as the Vikings had a poor losing record, and it was the final regular season game.
Still, there wasn't much buyback money to be found at any number for the underdog. I'm not sure if any book in Nevada hit the next magical buyback number of +14 - that was the only possibility of seeing Minnesota money, but it also left exposure to getting middled.

The game was pretty ho-hum for the most part.
Baltimore were not, however, going to blow out the Vikings that night.
That was clear in the 3rd quarter, but it was also evident that the Vikings had no offense with third stringer Spergon Wynn at quarterback. Mike Tice was standing in as head coach for his first game ever - Dennis Green had been recently fired.

Late in the 4th quarter, it looked highly likely that the Vikings would cover.
They were losing 12-3, and the Vikes had the ball at the two minute warning.
Then came the most bizarre play I can recall seeing. Vikings QB Wynn fumbled the ball inside his own 20 under minimal pressure from Peter Boulware (it was called a sack with an 11 yd loss) and the ball was recovered by Sharper of the Ravens, who ran it in 8 yds for a defensive TD.

That play looked like a total set-up, but I could never be totally certain that this had been the case.
Anyway, Stover kicked the extra point, and the Ravens win 19-3, and cover.

Was it a fix?
I'm not sure, but it definitely didn't look good.
I have no idea who might have benefited from the outcome, and never heard another word about it.
Never would have thought a thing about it had I not heard the pre-game info supposedly originating in Louisiana.
The source of this phone conversation is a guy that I have known a long time, and I trust. His Louisiana contact? No idea who that was, and don't want to know.

While I still believe that the vast majority of sporting events are played with integrity, that small possibility of a fixed outcome is always there.

Not really

Boat Game Number 1-Seattle totally overlooked Tampa, who has a young QB playing much better

Boat Game Number 2-Wayne is out, so Indy's offense is having a harder time. Houston has a young QB who is moving the team and as a result, the defense is playing more inspired ball knowing their quarterback wont throw a Pick 6 every game and bury them.

Boat Game number three-Philly has been up and down all year and they put it together today. I know, this really hard to fathom against a juggernaut like the Raiders

Still waiting for you to explain how exactly the games are fixed.

I can see that in games where the public all wants to take 1 side of the action (see Hugh's "Against the Public" threads) that control of the spread could be lucrative, especially to operations that concentrate regional action.

As far as fixing a zillion games... I don't know. Even the above scenario doesn't happen all that frequently or Hugh would be 100-0(exaggeration) in his selections.

I suppose if they have a few good men, that the temptation would be to push the envelope a little in more games than just the "against the public" games, possibly most of the games in which that crew or key official(s) worked.

I'm no expert on this subject.

Many teams use a coach or player going down as a motivator so them being negatively affected doesnt make sense. It doesnt matter, though, because if it was a boat game as "The Whizz" claimed to have figured out beforehand, wouldn't Indy still have found a way to lose?

You have even admitted you cant explain your theory and I dont anticipate you trying to start now.

Not too mention, if the coach going down was the reason Hou tanked, why did they wait till the fourth if they were so distraught? It happened at the half, and throughout the third, they held their own. It wasn't until the fourth (when it was already known Kubiak was ok), that Houston faded.....

Funny how the #1 harness Mecca actually kicks guys out. I dont see major thoroughbred tracks kicking out trainers who have horses mysteriously drop dead, those guys and gals get embraced. Harness racing also makes horses qualify if they have missed time, they have to put a non betting PP line to protect the public....no such safeguard in thoroughbreds.
