In watching the BC the past two days I'm convinced that the jockey & trainer definitely play a role however I am unsure as to the %.

I'd like some thoughts at to what others think.

Would a good starting place be:

Horse 80%
Jockey 10%
Trainer 10%

I'm primarily looking at how much attention should be paid to the jockey and trainer connection when it comes to betting time.

TIA.

That is one tough question. The problem most times is that trainers and jockeys are generally overbet once they are established.

It's also very different from circuit to circuit

That is one tough question.

It is. However you and the other top people here can bring it into focus.

Watching Outstrip thread through the field was all jockey.

Flexible thinking beats rigid percentage settings...IMO. Every race has its own peculiarities...so trainers and jockeys play a much bigger role in some races than they do in others.

Based on my own observations, it would be a mistake to think that the jockey has as big an effect on a horse as the trainer.
