We all make mistakes. Sometimes costly ones. I have long ago come to the conclusion there is no such thing as a lock, mortal or otherwise when it comes to horse racing. Only reasonable assumption of risk.

Agree !00%..Been playing a littler over 50 years have seen hundreds of "Mortal Locks" come not even close to winning.
I just think it was Funny to start a thread announcing to the world a so-so horse is a Mortal Lock. In the Mud on a unforgiving surface such as Hawthorne.
Even if it won was still a silly statement. ;)

A back door attempt at pool manipulation? I looked at that race. Had half the exacta (played 7/4 I think) but I wouldn't have played that 3 with Tonys money.

As I recall Tony posted one of these a few days ago and the horse paid $8 or so, but my memory could be false.

(I have a really good memory, but unfortunately it is often wrong. )

You were right Dave. About your memory that is. Last mortal lock was 9/7 R2 at Parx, Wildly Appealing. It ran 6th.

I've seen fixed races that didn't win. Fixed harness races! The last quarter went in 33-3 (usually goes in under 30) as they were waiting for the horse to pass them. It never got better than 4th.

LOL - Shoulda, does that make me psychic?

After all, I predicted I was wrong.

Sorry. Got carried away. Watching an anti-psychic movie on NetFlix.
