It was a very evenly-matched 3-horse field, with the odds on the three horses 1.10-1, 1.20-1 and 2.80-1.
Why shouldn't there be place betting in these situations? All right, if there's a 1-5 favorite or the longest price is 25-1, I could understand.
It seems cowardly to me for them not to have conducted a place pool in this spot.
