Place as an indicator?

I was wondering if anyone values the place pool as an indicator?

An indicator of what? I often look at the early place and show pools to see who might be live "underneath."

I not only look at the place pool, I bet into it a lot.

misscashalot, you should check the other thread about handicapping today's 7th at Keeneland. The :2: horse was 30/1 in the M/L, and opened up the favorite in the show pool. Wound up getting blocked late, and altering course for 4th to fill out the super. Just an example of your "indicator" idea.

btwn the place pool and win pool for individual horses?

example...if the fav in the win pool
is not the fav in the place pool?
