That is the scuttlebutt.
Who do you think the Dodgers will get to replace him, any thoughts?

Has to be another former Yankee. They seem to enjoy doing that for some reason.
Maybe they're into SM.

The key is that "ownership" wants to essentially manage the team, so, they're going to hire a "puppet" so they can manage the games from the press box.

Phil Jackson??
Wouldnt be the worst choice. Phil is a leader, he can learn baseball from a good bench manager on the fly. Problem is that grind of 162, Phil can't handle the grind of 82, 162 is a lot more work, not to mention a long preseason and tons of travel.

Hillman fired and as the hand picked coach of Mattingly it seems like the move was designed to provoke more tension. No confirmation of Mattingly being fired yet.
You get the feeling somethings going on, Dodger management was never pleased with McCourts pick for manager and appear to be showing him the door.

In that case, they should just dig Billy Martin up. A perfect fit.

Buster Olney is basically saying its not a matter of if, but of when. You're right, Donnie Baseball is not "ownerships guy" they want to come in and bring a puppet with them. WIll be interesting to see who they select, i'm thinking it won't be an established elite manager, it will be someone who is young and will make moves based on the "buzz" from upstairs.

I bet he ends up with the Tigers if he gets back into managing.

With arms like Verlander, Scherzer and Sanchez, Tiger fans better hope that is not the case.
