Heart perform Stairway to Heaven for the three surviving members of Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones) and Barack and Michele Obama.

If I'm not mistaken, that's Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son, on drums.

That said, the Zeppelin song which would best capture the Obama Presidency is "Dazed and Confused."

I was thinking When the Levee Breaks.

It certainly isn't "Nobody's Fault But Mine"

Could be "Ramble On"

The tea partiers think it's "Immigrant Song"

3:48 Jimmy Page totally thinking "It's amazing how much better I am at this solo than this guy"

Ann Wilson absolutely one of my favorite singers. She's tremendous

Actually I've seen videos of Page wasted on heroin and booze sound worse. This guy didn't burn up the fingerboard, but the sound was quite nice.
Jimmy's really mellowed into a true gentlemen since he ditched all the drugs and booze. He said in an interview that it helped him create his music and when he no longer needed it, he sobered up.

If I remember correctly, Heart was a Led Zep cover band or at least did a ton of LZ songs back in their early days.

That was a pretty fabulous version of Stairway.Yep, and I think who was in the audience motivated Heart.

Boy it's a good thing they didn't play Track 1 on Side 2 of Led Zep 3.

Good call; great song that really is a prime example of why LZ was so far ahead of the curve in musical exploration.

The lyrics are about a man (the U.S. citizenry) trying to delay his hanging until his friends and family can rescue him. Although there are many versions of this song, Led Zeppelin's is unusual in that it ends with the hangman (Obama) hanging the protagonist despite all of his bribes (pleas for mercy).

Not THAT original.

Early in their career Zeppelin opened for and were greatly influenced by a band named, "Spirit."

Page lifted the opening guitar piece for "Stairway" from this song:

Led Zepellin won the lawsuit Spirit (specifically Randy Wolfe a.k.a. Randy California)brought against Page and Plant back in 2016.

Nothing beats updating a 5 year old post.:)

Just curious, why the 5 year bump?...Reminiscing about the good ol' days?

They should have lost........but just that small sample is pretty weak to ask for royalties on. But it’s sounds like a stone cold rip off to me

Listening to music on Youtube last night.
I wanted to hear When the Levee Breaks, so I clicked on that video and thought it WAS Zeppelin until the singing started. I was handicapping, so I didn't see the girls in the video.

I searched HERE to see if anyone had mentioned them before and found this thread.
