Ive seen quite a few discussions lately asking why tracks with high overall takeouts or high takeouts on certain bets still get played fairly heavily by supposedly price sensitive players. Well I think that alot of the reason is this. Many large players are getting rebated based on the takeout of the bet. That means they can get a much larger rebate betting into the possibly less shark infested pools of say Tampa Bay or Philly Park rather than say Aqueduct or Santa Anita. It's actually a better strategy I believe to bet into these smaller track, high takeout pools that probably attract less "smart" money. The player still is betting the same effective takeout at each track. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
