European champion and sire Dayjur was euthanized Sept. 25 at Shadwell Farm in Lexington due to the infirmities of old age, according to an announcement from the farm. He was 26 and had been pensioned since 2010.The shadow jumper...ah...the early 90s...some of the best racing this sport has ever seen happened in the late 80s and early 90s...in my opinion...

Willie Carson they say rode him throughout his career .Great champion sprinter . Connections did good by him , little guy lived a good life! RIP!

R.I.P. Dajyur! Although I never saw him run on live tv, but I have definitely seen that shadow jump many times!!

First heard about him after Tizway's win in the 2010 Met mile.. when I was learning about pedigree and looked up the damsire.. Bethany by Dayjur always had a nice ring when I said it!

That was an exciting race live. Both ran very well.

Safely Kept was always one my favorite sprint fillies (didn't have her that day), but that was a tough way to get beat if you had Dayjur.
