his number is going to be retired the end of this season for the Yankees. he was probably the best closer i have ever seen. he was money in the bank especially in big games. to do what he did for so many seasons is unreal.

there were other great closer's before him like Goose Gossage, Hoyt Wilhelm, Bruce Sutter, Rollie Fingers and Dick Radatz. Radatz first time in the big leagues, went to the mound in the top of the 9th with the basis loaded and no outs, the Red Sox were ahead by 1 run. up to the plate comes Tommy Tresh, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. he struck them out in that order and got the save.

Trevor Hoffman is the clear-cut number 2 IMO.

Not a Skanks fan and have posted this before, but I think he's one of the Top 10 Pitchers of ALL time!

He was absolute $$$$$$ in the Playoffs and his numbers, with only one or two stubbed toes, were freakishly better than the Regular Season.

Kudos to a classy, introverted, Superman!

Hoffman's post season??San Diego no one cares..

Pound for pound the greatest Yankee ever..You can compare the other Yanks to great players in there ERA(Ruth Aside),,you cant compare Rivera to any closer in baseball including post season..
