During the last few days I've been looking at the pedigree matings of all the Triple Crown winners, especially the Derby, needless to say Secretariat is right in that mix.I certainly wasn't thinking about this mating though!Bold Ruler-Princequillo,Laurin-Tweedy(damsire Chenery)=best Triple Crown in history!:p

It definitely gves a new perspective to watching the replay of the Belmont Stakes after Secretariat had won the race, and hearing Chick Anderson say (at the 3:29 mark), "And look at Mrs. Tweedy! She's having the time of her life...she and Lucien Laurin!"

"The experience of having Secretariat rescued me," Chenery said. "The fact that I was getting a little on the side was a small part of that story."

This lady kills me.

Overlay, thanks for adding the video. Just to see him run this one race and hear the crowd's joy...it always gives me chills.

Penny's love affair with Lucien? Private. I would have taken it to my grave. Like all else surrounding Secretariat's place in history, its running for second money.
