Hmmmmm, you add a 7-2 shot in 3rd and get 26 times the price? Even the Q paid 242 vs 100 for the 2 dollar version.

But, you know, nobody cares, nobody will investigate, business as usual out there. The pools as well as exacta odds are available at all times leading up to post.. you can obviously copy paste that data from most track totes and check if there is any discrepancy.. I am tired of people looking at win odds and then making up theories..

Why are some SHOW payouts so much more than win payouts in some races where a massive fav finishes off the board. Of course, people cook up a term called bridgejumped, look at the pools and then feel happy if they hit it.. but no one compares and win payout and claims conspiracies there...

thoughts? learn how to read the exacta pool, data of which is available on most ADWs.. esp Idabet/OTB/twinspires/Xpressbet as well as direct track totes. and if you see value in one over the other (and you already have your top two selections ready, then pounce on appropriate pool).

This stuff is called pool inefficiency. An astute bettor will keep an eye on the tote and use it. Some bigger bettors have programs that will look for this (once they know the top selections) and bet smartly.

I usually use this more for Place pool selections. lot of times a hopeless win odds horse will still have a chance to come 2nd and the Place pool does not reflect that.. it is more complicated and harder to get two horses correct, but when you do Quinellas can be good if there two medium odds horses (or long ones in thise).
Quinellas suck when a strong favorite ends up 2nd. usually the public has that one in the Quin anyway so no value there
