Who does everyone like?

We had the possibility of seeing this go to 3 heats and this can't be a good thing for these horses.

Without the Captain in there, my support would have to go to Vegas Vacation. Mach It So could be interesting, I'm not sure about Rockin Amadeus as the ML favorite.

...Mach It So could be interesting...

You have that right, from today's DRF harness..
"Mach It So won at half-mile Grand River Raceway in a track-record 1:51.4".

that is impressive...and a little bitty horse to boot...

That is pretty impressive. He was impressive when I saw him at Mohawk for the Canadian Breeders. Only downfall, he hasn't really seen Grand Circuit competition except for the Brandywine.

Was one of the big three of the great three year olds crop of Columbia George, Most Happy Fella and Truluck. Always rooted for Truluck. Small horse who would warm up like a $4,000 claimer. Or worse. :) Would move very slow like he was hurting somewhere. Then when the gate got moving for the race all of a sudden it was one very fast horse. That one always stuck in my mind.

DELAWARE COUNTY FAIR
RACE 9

4 BOURBON ST HANOVER gets a key driver change to Callahan and has been razor sharp on the fair circuit. Looks like a tough favorite in this Pick 3 first leg. The 1 horse, WINDY CITY RON may be the main rival.

RACE 13 LITTLE BROWN JUG 1st Elimination

5 VEGAS VACATION will be a short price here and may not be worth a bet but he's the best horse. 3-ROCKIN AMADEUS has the speed to take the lead, which is where you want to be at this track.

RACE 14 LITTLE BROWN JUG 2nd Elimination

4 LUCAN HANOVER has the better post and the speed to use it; upset call over 6-WORD POWER in the 2nd elimination.

RACE 14 LITTLE BROWN JUG 3rd Elimination

3 SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP went a big race when he won the Adios at the Meadows in July and has since chased Vegas Vacation. He draws inside of main rival 4-JOHNNY ROCK.

LITTLE BROWN JUG FINAL

The final often comes down to which horse draws the rail. VEGAS VACATION is the best horse but I think that SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP has a good chance to upset, especially if he draws the one post. I'll take either Vegas Vacation or Sunfire Blue Chip if either one of them gets post 1 in the final.

Have fun everyone. I am watching the video for only one reason that is to hear if at any time the video feed announces the round one probables in the future wagers and the second round also.

Yesterday they never announced that the Second round of Future wagers were being held this week. Seems to me that if a business is having something to sell they should advertise and do something to support it. If a business is not able to do at least that or in the case of yesterday, the paddock judge permitted the horses on the post parade to be wearing the incorrect head numbers and saddle cloths, what insurance do we have in the industry itself when just last Friday a horse never made it to the detention stalls for a PA SS Final and never arrived up to the time of the race with the track going into a delay not knowing the horse never arrived? I guess suggesting that they always check tattoo numbers when the horses arrive in the race paddock is too much then.

One thing I can say about today, the track has been addressed more for speed than it was yesterday. They took a little cushion off and the front end horses will be almost unstoppable today...

As a guide to the stretch at the Jug I used four other tracks to compare/contrast to see the importance of early speed here.

Big M (mile track)
Stretch = 990 feet
Width = 90 feet

The Meadows (5/8 mile track)
Stretch = 566 feet
Width = 80 feet

Yonkers (half mile track)
Stretch = 660 feet
Width = 98 feet

Northfield Park (half mile track)
Stretch =440 feet
Width = 80 feet

Delaware Co Fair oval (half mile track)
Stretch = 380 feet
Width = 80 feet

This track is the shortest stretch I have seen. If anyone know one shorter than

Not ever being at Yonkers in my lifetime I have a hard time believing that width of that track being wider than the Big M but that is what their website has as its width...

Hey Ray, how are your speed numbers on Mach It So in that win over at Grand River,,,,as the trackmaster speed number is tied for the tops in that elim coming up in 13th...not saying I am back betting these races but since I am here waiting for a single mention of the future price probables of both future wagers (still have not heard a word in two days of broadcasting).

My numbers have 3 way tie

Mach it so 100
Lucan Hanover 100
Word Power 100
Beach Memories 99
the 1 3 and 7 at 97

By trackmaster it would be Mach It So tie with Word Power. But the manner of style of racing gives the early speed in favor of Mach It So...if that one gets the lead and can hit the half unpushed hitting the timer in 54:3, the race is over for the rest of them.

Thanks Ray..

Given this track's speed bias (being harder than yesterday as mentioned by Noal Daley when he took off the shoes of his trotting mare in the interview) I have to give Palone's mount serious consideration if I was betting.

Lonewolf Currier (# 2) just might on the engine given Palone's mannerisms with this horse. If so, he can be very tough. Can the first two winners be both from the (# 2) hole?

Third leg, I would be throwing caution into the wind and going with Odds On Equuleus (# 5). I have been a fan of that one since he was taken down for backing down the field at the Red Mile when the second place horse never missed a step, neither did the third place one, but fourth place saw Sears try to move to the outside but lacked room and cut back in and ran into the back of the driver sitting third. One of the worst calls in the sport on the grand circuit. I have been rooting for that one all year.

If I were betting that pick three (2-2-5) would be my keys in each race, the Pick-4 starting in Race 12 I would have used three horses, 2,3 and 11.

Since both horses share a common owner, will they be coupled or race as different racing interests (separated for betting purposes). I know the answer in flat racing and greyhounds but harness racing is not definite. Anyone know?

Not sure. Resistance Futile wins the third elimination, 1:49.3. 24-1 bomb. That was a gritty win, grinding it out first over. Corey Callahan is in his first LBJ.

With the draw, an owner can enter two horses with separate betting interests.

The worst drive of the day (and I did not bet a single penny) had to Miller Time in the final of the Jug. Knowing David I assume his orders were to sit in the two hole and let Vegas Vacation go first up when Sears was back almost two lengths behind when he moved over in front of (# 3) Resistance Futile. I do believe the main owner, West Wins Stable, has more to lose in breeding value in Vegas Vacation if Lucan Hanover won the race. Basically they stiffed the one in favor of breeding rights of winning the Jug.

Just one more reason Harness Racing keeps shooting itself in the foot by permitting separate betting interests on horses that should have been entered as an Entry. This would never happen in flat racing.

I attached a picture just before Vegas went first up and Miller kept in the pocket. Think it was right passed the 3/8 pole (harness term, flat racing would be the 5/8 pole meaning that there was 5/8 left in the race).

Vegas Vacation is a gelding. He can't be used for breeding.

They are both geldings...then the only reason I can see is that there might be a problem with the other owners that are not in common....maybe something like being constantly late in kicking in their share of stake fees or stable fees, or something. there has to be reason for Miller to be so passive when he values winning the Jug more than any other race..

I am open for ideas?

The bottom line is the sport needs to do things that eliminate anything that might appear as not being above board. Flat racing would never race two horses in a race as separate betting interests.
