Silver Option and Magna Fortuna (Taxi)... What a story.

The morning of June 6, 2009 began just as every other morning here at the Illinois
Equine Humane Center, with the exception of beginning barn-chores a few hours earlier
than normal so that the horses could all be fed and turned out for the day by 6 am in
time to hit the road for the day from our home base in Illinois to the Shipshewana Livestock Auction in Shipshewana, Ind. - See more at: http://blogs.courier-journal.com/magnafortuna/one-mans-trash-part-i-rescue-from-a-kill-pen/#sthash.NRePEFb3.dpuf

Like their choice in silks... :)Great story with a touch of sadness...

(sorry slightly off topic here) but this is the part in the blog article that I don't agree with:

"As a non-profit equine rescue organization, the ILEHC was clearly in no position to justify spending $5,000 for the stallion service fee owed to Darby Dan. (Once Silver Option delivered a live foal, the mare’s owners at the time were on the hook for the stud fee – ed.) - See more at: blog (http://blogs.courier-journal.com/magnafortuna/one-mans-trash-part-iii-how-taxi-became-magna-fortuna/#sthash.IphVwqfz.dpuf) "

If you had entered into a breeding contract then you owe the stud fee, right? Otherwise, why should anyone pay for a foal that was abandoned by the owner of the mare and you bought the horse on "as is where is" basis, without notification of any liability or benefits at the time of sale. The stud (Magna Graduate) did his job and then abandoned the mare too... Sue that breeder for lifelong child support, if they want the fame, they gotta take responsibility too (jk guys)
