What's really sad is the crackhead crooks have most likely already beaten then flat or cut up to melt. What a loss of artisan-ship from the Golden Age... I hope I'm wrong and they are recovered.

The Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Police Department is investigating the theft of five valuable trophies from the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame the night of Sept. 12.

According to a release from the museum, the trophies taken in the late-night "smash-and-grab" incident were:

—1903 Belmont Stakes Trophy, won by Africander
—1903 Brighton Cup Trophy, won by Hermis
—1905 Saratoga Special Trophy, won by Mohawk II
—1914 Brook Cup Handicap Steeplechase Trophy, won by Compliment
—1923 Grand National Steeplechase Trophy, won by Sergeant Murphy

Watch the tape those are no crackheads. The guy came in like a ninja on Mission Impossible. Through the "courtyard" in the center of the building. They were gone within 2 to 3 minutes. They are not getting melted down, this smells of art theives with clients. It may be related to this: Goshen harness museum robbed in December 2012:

Do you have a link to the TAPE..? I can not seem to locate it.

These are (or were) stunning bits of American Craftsmanship.

If these thieves were pros. They were well aware these trophies have no street value nor do they have any value to the art or collector market. These people will know straight away the trophies are stolen.
The only thing I can think of is a collector may have paid these people to steal them.
Of have I seen "Entrapment", "The Italian Job" and "Oceans 12" too many times?

Or they could hold them for ransom.

Or they could hold them for ransom.

Or the museum paid someone to do it so they can make some money on the insurance? No, J/K.
