Check out Robolinux... It's a new technology and is FREE!

Following is a little description that I pasted from their web site.

"Robolinux makes Windows 7 & XP 100% immune to all Viruses & Malware!
Imagine never getting a virus or malware again for the rest of your life on Windows 7 or the soon to expire Windows XP. Many people don't want to or cannot afford to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8. That's no problem when you run XP inside Robolinux which does not require any Windows security updates and saves you hundreds of dollars!"

I think this technology is great for all users of Windows XP who rely on older handicapping software that won't run on Vista or Windows 7.

I have not installed RoboLinux, however, I plan on installing in the near future. I cannot currently give any review of this new software. I just want to let members know about this interesting software.

"Robolinux makes Windows 7 & XP 100% immune to all Viruses & Malware!"

Linux/RoboLinux is not invulnerable to viruses, no matter how robust they make it out to be. It's just running Win 7/XP in a virtualbox VM. The video does a piss poor job of explaining anything and convincing me that it will. Any OS that executes an app is vulnerable to some malware.
Of course running an operating system in a virtual machine makes it magically immune to viruses and means it no longer requires security updates.:lol:
Maybe they were comparing Robolinux to WinMe:lol:

Just checked their site for the 'free' RoboLinux. It cost $80 per the small box at the bottom of the 'Download Now' link and can only be purchased via PayPal:lol:
I guess the meaning of Free has changed.

They might be charging for some sort of distinctive installation, distribution code and support from RoboLinux.org.

You can download RoboLinux FREE at Download.com and Sourceforge.net

Are there people out there who just can't avoid getting a virus/malware?

These Linux guys make it seem like PC users are all sitting around crippled (some hourly it seems) by viruses and malware.

I guess some people are so clueless about their computers that this could be possible...if they are surfing porn 24/7 or going to other unsavory sites.

Common sense often goes a long way in cases like this.

To what "Linux guys" do you refer? Kind of hard to characterize such a varied group. However, most "Linux guys" would probably just tell you to run a newbie distro, instead of trying use Windows in a VM.

Be careful running Robolinux -- it doesn't seem to have an active forum and it isn't listed in Distrowatch. Actually, the most damning points are that Robolinux is a "company" and that they are charging for open source software.

I apologize for using a broad brush.

I realize that Windows is more susceptible to attack.

However, it boggles my mind how often people seem to get themselves in trouble by doing stupid things.

I have a machine which I use HEAVILY for email and web surfing, and I run NO real time virus protection on it...Windows 7...and I just don't run into the kind of trouble other people seem to have on a semi-regular basis.

Like I said...common sense goes a long way towards not getting yourself infected with a computer virus/malware.

The problem with Linux (as I have said before) is that when something breaks, it takes a serious tech guy and a time commitment to fix it.

Yes, Windows breaks as well, but not at almost every major upgrade to the point where your display drivers (and often other drivers) have to be re-installed (assuming there is one for your hardware).

No doubt it is a better operating system than Windows - in almost any flavor. But it takes a major commitment to support.

Mac is nice, but crazy expensive.

LOL - Please take me back to the DOS days.

No. It's the same as any other OS.

There are plenty of Distro-specific (and general) Internet forums that will help with problems, just like Windows and Mac. Furthermore, if you run one of the major distros there are likely paid services (phone help, on-site assistance), just like Windows and Mac.
