Same owner/trainer ran 1-2. Why wasn't that an entry?

Who were the trainers of the first two finishers?

Romans

Romans

I know. It was a rhetorical question. Of course two horses from the same trainer ( in this case it was owner too ) will pay lower than an expected price...and even moreso when both horses are very long prices.

After seeing the race, the 9 Ride on Curlin ran pretty good. Things didn't go his way, but he is a solid horse.

Roman's kid is probably having one hell of a time tonight picking out some new toy......that kid bets with both hands..............

On paper it's paying 780.......I can even see 650 but not 500..........

"They " did just fine in the race........

Wish I could punch late too they took it out in wheel barrels

Wouldn't the $2 exacta pay more like 1200-1300 ? That wasn't even
enough for a $ 1 exacta .

I believe some tracks allow uncoupled entries like this is stakes races.

Wow what I moron I am.....I thought 70x18 was 780.....

NOW THIS IS REALLY SHORT!!!!!

In big league flats rule of thumb is multiply win by place....how dumb can I really be

Yes 12-1300 is where it should be

Yes 12-1300 is where it should bei am usually the first person to point out when i think something is wrong, even though the exacta was very light i understand pretty clearly what happened in this case because i have done the same thing myself without doing anything wrong. the guy betting the gimmick must have over bet it just to make sure it didn't pay $600 or more. he might have been able to do it with as little as a $50 bet. i did it in Saratoga on a big stakes day with an $40 ticket and it paid $583. in my case it was on a daily double on a big stakes day. the horses paid $120 and $22. the second half would have paid at least double that if i didn't bet the horse to win either.

if someone is going to cheat after the bell on tricks they will do it with trifecta's and superfecta's because they are blind pools. customers are always watching exacta and daily double pools, so if something is fishy they are alway's going to complain and they will investigate the bet and catch it.

That race collapsed late. I'm against both of Romans' runners next time out.

As for the payoff, I'm sure somebody will remind me that 2 year old races have among the highest % of winning favorites but on an individual basis, they are the most likely to have mathematical inefficiencies in the win pool. So one can't go specifically by the win pool.

Also, both of Romans runners figured to be deep closers. I think some bettors may lump together horses of similar running styles in exactas, either anticipating a very slow pace, or a very fast one.

If this was a $40k unrestricted claiming race in New York with the 30-1 winning and 20-1 shot 2nd and the exacta wasn't even a signer, it would look a little funny, but in this case probably not.

Highly unlikely Jake bet the race.

I think there is a pretty simple explanation. Donegal Racing owned both horses. It is a partnership consisting of a lot of small partners. When they have horses entered in big races they bring huge groups to the track (partners, family and friends). 150 plus. A lot of them probably boxed their two horses.

That would be my guess as well. http://www.donegalracing.com/

This race made my night, I was handicapping the race and had a hard time picking which Romans horse to bet since he'd picked up both Lanerie and Bridgmo, arguably Churchill's best trainer/jockey combos going off at fat prices were irresistable to me. I only wish id played the 5/10 exacta now rather than just the 5 wps. I gave my buddies all kinds of shit as I proceeded to hit the tri on the next two races, it was a nice opening night.

I know of one track that never couples entries.

Is redboarding a no-no here? If so, forgive me, I don't have the opportunity to gloat about picking a longshot too often haha.
