Has anybody read this book? Is worth the time and money? The reviews are mixed. I was thinking it might be something I could read in a doctor's office while waiting. What do you think?

I would recommend William Poundstone's "Prisoner's Dilemma" instead...

Sklansky's Theory of Poker, Holdem Poker for advanced players and No Limit Hold'em are among the best and most influential gambling books ever. Not all of his books are of the same quality though. I am referring to HOw to make 100K per year, Getting the Best of it and Poker gaming and life. Although I will certainly buy his new book, I do not expect to find anything new in it.

DUCY?

It's an acronym for "Do you see why?"

If you get one good idea out of the book, it's worth it. Sklansky books usually have something that's of use to most people.

I'm well aware.

If you're really interested in this book, David gives a summary of its contents here.

I bought the kindle edition.

Very disappointing book...

I find the praise to the author 'genius' really annoying as it covers several pages. I really do not think that I have anything to gain nor I am interested about Sklansky's SAT score or how accomplished his relatives are..

The book is full of stories, presented by an arrogant writer who thinks he is far smarter than his reader and overall does not provide anything new.

If you want my opinion, please do not waste your time and money...

You mean $14.95 is too much to pay for the theories of a "renowned strategist"? :)

I would say that the EV of this amount has to be negative ...

At this point the difference between $14.95 and $1.99 is not a deal killer. It is losing how ever long it takes to read it from my life, if it is a bad book. Don't laugh too hard, you'll get there someday. :D

Jessie May lacks the poker credentials and the writing skills to write that sort of book.

I recommend Tommy Angelo.

If you're looking for an interesting read from a true character, check out Cowboy Wolford's book, "Cowboys, Gamblers and Hustlers. (http://www.amazon.com/Cowboys-Gamblers-Hustlers-Adventures-Champion/dp/1580420834/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1378944490&sr=1-1&keywords=cowboy+wolford)"

It was at my local library and I read it twice.

In all honesty I'm sure I can write a book about wasting 17 years of my life gambling and looking forward to another 40.....;

Who wouldn't wanna read about whizz gambling problems from the past here are some chapters

- stiffing books
-lying about gambling

-putting 2k claimers at northfield over a girl that abandoned all her friends cuz of you

-how at the end of the week somebody that worked at McDonald's with 4 kids have more money at end of week when I was making 1500 dealing at casino

-8 sessions in a row of winning 1200 or more playing 10/20 or 20/40 and Walk out losing all 8 times

-hitting pick 4 at track for 3k owed book 700 and still stiffed him

- blow weeks worth of work playing video poker when getting sent on tilt after having got beat on wire after A $20 win bet on a 4/5

I'm 90 percent more in control of my life then I used to be......I'm being begged by friends to go to some massage palours.....and addiction I don't need

Tommy Angelo likes to say that..."walking out is easy; the hard part is standing up." :)
