2013 NFL Handicapping Contest

Football season is here and everybody thinks they got all the answers when it comes to handicapping football.....So here is everybody's chance to talk the talk and walk the walk.,......here's the deal....

-contest will be consisted of 3 different "seasons"
A. Weeks 1-9
B. Weeks 10-17
C. Overall season

(sorry this isn't as organized as "track collector" and "jay trotter" they are in a class of there own)

Every week each participant will select 7 games, you can select either:
A. Team vs the point spread
B. Over under in the game

Of the 7 games 2 will be scored as "best bets"
A. "best bets" are worth 3 points
B. others are worth 2 points
C. A "push" is worth 1 point

We are going to use the website "Vegas insider" for the official lines....as in opening lines

-if a game is off the board it will be a pickem game but can't be used as a "best bet"

-all picks must be in by 8pm Thursday

Prizes will be awarded to all 3 winners

Weeks 1-7, 10-15 picks can be made on this thread.....like the deltoga challenge each week will have its own thread.....weeks 8,9 16,17 will be made via my email adress to avoid "checker on checker" .....that is when your up by 3 points and u see the guy behind in standings picks you select the same games.....I know that move;)

Summery: pick 7 games and select 2 best bets when you select a best bet just put "BB" to signal selection

Home teams will be in CAPS....
If you select a over under as a pick put home team with a (+) for over and a (-) for under.....over under in parentheses any questions feel free to ask

Yes........if you want to forfeit picks feel free to do so.....usually in the pool im in which consists of all nfl games and college 1 Loss is usually what it takes to win...

If you have the lead late in the game and wanna get 5 points you do what you gotta do

Because week 1 lines came out so long ago and this thread just went up, we really should use current lines. Too easy to cherry pick the line moves from the initial number. This would only an issue for week 1.

I don't think anyone is questioning Vegas Insider; its just that the week 1 lines came out so long ago, there has been a substantial amount of line movement.

Correct everybody has the same lines and they are as stale as 9 week
Old bread....people should jump on them if there off...I have no clue what current lines are for week 1 as I have to survive a full slate of action on saturday!!!

on the eve of kickoff I'm throwing a new wrinkle into this which you guys will like.....

In addition to the gift cards that will be awarded to the winners I'm doing a special carryover......(we do this in our contest)

Starting week 2there will be a $20 gift card to anybody that wins the pool back to back weeks......if nobody wins weeks 1 and 2 $10 is added to week 3 for $30 if you win weeks 2&3......if it doesn't hit weeks 3&4 is $40 etc etc etc......$10 will roll over each week.......so each week somebody will be going for the back to back wins for the gift card....it's a lot of fun

So whoever didn't get in this pool yet it's time to get in........there are some sharpies in this contest even the newly crowned "deltoga champ" will be making his presence felt!!
