The director of poker had the master gameplan and pulled off sometimg I thought was impossible to be done......

The way the room is set up its an addition to the casino.....management made people wait in line and only let in enough people at a time to open a game....at 10:50am when I got there there was a line of about the length of the Churchill downs strech......and at 12 it people started filing in....there was no cutting lines or just walking in and sitting down you HAD to wait in a 400 person line

Oh and if you though about just strong arming and getting in room there was police at the door

If you left and were coming back you had to give your player card to the security in front

This was such an effective move I can't explain it....inside the room it was total calm.....52 tables running like the room has been open for years....

Besides management doing a perfect job the action was insane....

I am looking for a place to move to once my son goes away to college...and this new poker room just might tilt the scale Maryland's way.

To be honest, I was looking for a place that's a little warmer during the winter...but with poker action like this, I doubt that I'll be outside much. :)

for here and now live will be one of the biggest rooms in the world. when the Baltimore casino(s) open they'll cut into it some. I imagine tomorrow's going to be an absolute zoo there. you'll probably see a lot of Charles town players there so I imagine it'll be softer games than Borgata.

took $150 yesterday which lasted me for about 12 hrs of 4-8 hold 'em.

pros:

* very easy casino to get to. exit 10a off 100 exits right into the mall. just loop around and the casino is kind of behind the mall. nice garage with free parking.

* there were some very bad players in my game...... but hey, they did beat me.:blush: also, the room was very busy.... even when I left at almost 2am... with a pretty big variety of game selection.

* food wasn't too expensive and was pretty good. had a crab sandwich and some waffle fries from Phillips..... less than $10.

cons:

* did not go into the upstairs section, but this room could have been nicer with more tvs. the tvs they did have could have been higher too. the room itself is just kind of a dark rectangular room. no fancy architecture like Borgata or even the big table games pit at pen.

* kind of disorganized and did see some line jumping. dealer did try to ask the floor about it but was kind of ignored and just let it go after that.

* slow drink service. not very many waitresses for a room this busy.

overall, lost $150. could have been worse, but I folded almost every small blind I had, saving $2 x a lot of orbits. got out to a good start, but was getting crushed from about 5:00 on. a-k, a-q, k-k got run down 4x by ace rag. hours later I was making a comeback when my own dominated hand ended up crushing me. k-q hearts. flop a-k-q, turn q. villain had a-q. final death blow came approaching 2:00am when k-3 off ended up rivering my q-q. :rolleyes:

returned to live! for some last minute Christmas shopping at the Arundel mills mall and to again try my luck in a nice recreational game of 4-8 hold 'em.

things had been going bad for me this week in no limit and it seemed like my woes were going to continue in limit action at mdlive!. opened a new game at about 11:00 and was spent the nfl pregame shows and most of the first two nfl games (nearly 8 hours) folding rags and getting sucked out on at the river by ridiculous holdings when I did have a hand. at one point I fell behind almost $200 in this humble game but for the most part I was vacillating between -$120 and -$150 until the about the end of the ravens game when I finally went on a tear and surged to a lead I would pad even further towards the end of the eagles game before cashing out $340 to the good around 1 am.... a 14 hr session.

*the bad players were still there and they love to cold call raises with hands they shouldn't even be limping in pots with.

*tried Phillips again and had a really good slice:ThmbUp: of meatlovers pizza.

* some decent dealers but the majority fell well below "whizz" standards in speed, game control, getting cards to the two seat.... (whizz himself had the day off)

* they could have used several more cocktail waitresses for the room. you're much better off taking matters into your own hands and walking to the bar to get a drink yourself. one pepsi that I did get to order never even came, lol.

* overall though hope to be back in 2014!

you're certainly right about that although for the purposes of this particular thread mdlive! comps are a little disappointing for an out of town player like myself. the six dollar rake has been a silent killer on my own poker tour thread so I can see live's lower rake appealing to the local Maryland player. but for an occasional Maryland visitor i'd rather not lose my comps after 90 days of inactivity and I prefer to have more flexibility in how I use them.
