“unlike criminal forfeiture, where property is taken after its owner has been found guilty in a court of law, with civil forfeiture, owners need not be charged with or convicted of a crime to lose homes, cars, cash or other property.”

Maybe carrying cash on the way to gamble at Remington isn't the way to go?

http://okpolicy.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/piles_of_money.jpg (http://okpolicy.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/piles_of_money.jpg)In July, Caddo County Special Judge David A. Stephens strongly condemned a “shockin (http://newsok.com/oklahoma-da-halts-i-40-drug-stops-after-criticism/article/3864488)g” (http://newsok.com/oklahoma-da-halts-i-40-drug-stops-after-criticism/article/3864488)practice (http://newsok.com/oklahoma-da-halts-i-40-drug-stops-after-criticism/article/3864488) that was exposed after a woman driving along I-40 was stopped and questioned by Joe David, the owner of a private Guthrie-based company, Desert Snow. Since January, Desert Snow had been participating in roadside stops and searches along with other members of a local drug task force. According to its website, (https://blackasphalt.org/) Desert Snow is “dedicated to all those who traffic contraband and the Law Enforcement Officers who relentlessly pursue them!!!”.

Open corruption and of course nobody on this site cares to comment, especially the great ex law enforcement guys who are always willing to circle the wagons for their pals.

With each passing day, we are rapidly encroaching on becoming a police state, just as so many other great nation in man's history had become before their respective demise's....All the signs and rules are already in place and in play....After things like these can occur, then what is next I wonder ?...

When things like this go on, with the victims having no recourse but to submit and live with it, and it is tolerated by the "real law", then we are becoming so lost as a nation...Scary chit...

You're hysterical.

It's pure bullshit, but is old news. This stuff has been all the way to the Federal courts before. In some places it's illegal and in others it's still legal depending on the courts jurisdiction.

Drug dogs are a joke. 1 in 5 is accurate. I worked with many dogs over 12 years and mst were pure shit. Relying on them is a joke.

Btw, 80 % of money sets off drug dogs.........

I have known about this type of seizure for a long time, but did not know it was being done in OK. Old News? Yeah about 30 days. Most of the brouhaha was about using private unlicensed police to seize the money, not the actual seizure. The seizure without criminal charges is what bothers me.

I am absolutely shocked and amazed that money would come up missing when
a law enforcement team can pull you over and fill out paper work after a drug dog gives a positive "hit" on your cash. Seriously does this surprise anyone?
