Just watched the Lumber Guy get cooked........ I love that Horse BTW.

The race before was fast as hell too.

I think Johnny V let up on the LGUY in the lane, because he knew he was cooked, coming off a layoff.........looking forward to the Breeders Cup.

Anybody think the clock is off?

I have a lot of questions about turf timing this meet, but not the dirt.

Getting the track ready for Travers day is all.

Getting the track ready for Travers day is all.

I was thinking the same thing....why would they "mess" with the track for a "big day"? So they can make it more speed favoring and more "favorites favoring"?

I'll never understand why tracks scrape down surfaces to paved highways for "big days"....there must be something to it, but i'll never get it. If anything, those paved highways make me bet less money..paved highways make it harder to beat favorites. Its a good thing if you love even money shots, but if you like to beat those types, not such a good thing.

Finale on the turf today had fractions that were comical.

Trakus.......premier meet in the nation......and it is not there.

High schools have better timing at track meets.

Where the Hell is Bobby Flay, the great savior of racing? Mise en plas?

Would have been nice if Bejarano didnt mail in the final ride, i thought that horse was a great price at 11-1....i didnt get the memo that he was going to take the horse way back in a paceless race and put him in a no shot spot.

There have been others too.

21Jly-Race 2: final 1/4 in a 1m turf race for MSW 3+ was 22.22
(now that's not entirely implausible but 22.22 for the final fraction is pretty damn fast)

Hmm. I timed the race using the video replay with a stopwatch app on my phone.
The fractions, save the first quarter which seemed slower than the 23.78, were nothing out of the ordinary.
The 2nd quarter was 25.06. The third was 24.56. the 4th was 23.20 with the last furlong in 12.03.
With a 49+ second middle half, I don't see why a decent horse can finish up the last 3 furs in 35 seconds.
Check out the amount of dust kicked up. The turf there is real firm.
The track super would be wise to get some water into the soil.

How about the times of race # 10 and #11 on Aug 18th ?

Race 10: 1m3/8 MSW 3+
26.81 - 53.82 - 121.68 - 146.87 - 221.29
(2nd half mile run in 53.05 then they rocket home in 34.42)

Race 11: 1m16 MSW f2
27.54 - 53.80 - 117.81 - 140.42 - 146.18

I suppose Race 11 isn't too odd considering it's baby fillies, and the top two basically paraded around the course. Also, they were two of only three runners with racing experience.
But Race 10, even though it was 11f, looks very weird.

I think one of those races, Durkin said "the quarter is in.......well, that cant be right".

The 1st 1/4 is what I was talking about, and that carries over to the other ones and the final time.

Earlier in the thread, someone mentioned Trackus.
I would imagine if this system were used at NYRA tracks, the questionable times could be examined for accuracy.
Other than that, we are forced to speculate. Or rub our collective chins and say "hmmm"....

Pretty sure Trakus is coming soon to NY.

The new delineation between major and minor league tracks is whether or not they have Trakus. No excuse for not having it in this day and age.

It seems like the track changed from Aug 22 to Aug 23, is it possible to find out what was done to the track over night on the evening of Aug 22?
