I'm going through the book 'Modern Pace Handicapping' and I can't get the routes to calculate correctly.

I'm using the following formula:
1Fr = 2640 - (BL*10) / T1

Where T1 = 24.05

I'm getting the following:
1 - 109.355509356
6 - 109.771309771
3 - 109.563409563
2 - 108.108108108
4 - 108.731808732
5 - 109.563409563

T1 seems low compared to what is shown in the book, but the chart shows that as the first call. I've included the chart, it's race #4.

thanks

In MPH, T1 is the half mile - 4 furlongs, so use that time - 24.0 is for 2 furlongs.
IF you want to do that call, use 1320 feet with the 24.04 time.

1Fr = ((2640 - (BL*10))/ T1

(2640-40)/47.97
2600/47.97
54.20 fps

Do use the extra ( ) as Ken mentions.

Try wrapping the first quantity in brackets like this:

1Fr = [2640 - (BL*10)] / T1

Your so smart! Never occured to me he was using the wrong time for that point of call.

In MPH, T1 is the half mile - 4 furlongs, so use that time - 24.0 is for 2 furlongs.
IF you want to do that call, use 1320 feet with the 24.04 time.
