Gonna be arriving for the next chapter in my pathetic life come about 3 days from now.........obv not sitting home and twirling my hair I'm gonna be in stone heat to gamble.....

I really liked the northeast otb......are there any off track wagering facilities around Baltimore or do I have to go to lrl or pimlico at night? Please don't tell me pimlico at night I don't have the heart

Don't think there are any OTBs in the city, probably just Pimlico.

If you don't mind a little bit of a drive you can always go to Rosecroft in Oxon Hill MD for full card simulcasting, other than that, Laurel is your best bet. No OTBs in the Baltimore area

I can think of a lot of places I wouldn't mind a little bit of a drive to visit, but Rosecroft would not be on that list. I wouldn't mind a little bit of a drive to go to Laurel if I lived in a trailer in the Rosecroft parking lot.

You and the guys in the commune can always hustle a night of friendly bowling. SHOWTIME!!! ;)

Laurel is good, but make sure they are open before you make the trek

They have a habit of keeping a goofy schedule. Their website is not always accurate either.

Would love to hustle across town.....bowling pool cards etc etc etc....

I'm fairly confident the greater Baltimore area will have there fair share of no it alls and "the best at everything's.....

My night got ruined tonight when cj mentioned rosecroft I
Immediately googles rosecroft raceways and I cold rush came over me that they are dark being ocean downs is racing.....was stone livid,,.

If I get to Maryland by Thursday Charlestown is 1/9 fri or sat
If I get in town Saturday that gambling is a little iffy...

Either way can't wait to get down there....was thinking about starting a my first 30 days in Maryland but I don't want you guys to be jealous about how I live in a house full of filth and noise along with getting disqualified 4 out of 7 nights a week or how I went to a orioles game bet the home team and the bustout Minnesota twins score 4 in top of the 9th to shatter my dreams.....nope you guys don't wanna hear 30 days of irrelevancy

Charles Town isn't that bad of a drive, but be warned, CT has a very limited simo schedule. Since Rosecroft re-opened it isn't a bad place like it once was. They actually put some cash into the place and opening night is only 5 weeks away racing live every Tuesday and Saturday until mid-Dec

I still say Laurel will be your best bet for simulcasting. They have a nice enough bar when you first walk in, or the area for simulcasting just to the right. The kicker is, at LRL, they charge you for a seat in the simulcast area or a minimum at the bar. Where down at Rosecroft, it is always free admission and seating.

Driving from Baltimore to Rosecroft, instead of the much closer Laurel, would be literally - yes, LITERALLY - insane.

Be careful of the speed trap in Martins Ferry, right down the road from Charlestown

Thank you for your help.......quick trip report from NE otb in Maryland....

I get hired as full time floor/lead pit supervisor at the Hollywood perryville poker room....they jerk me on the salery on a early Saturday so I go for some alcohol training by the time it's done it's 1:20pm I gotta get a hotel to stay at for next 2 nights.....

So I get hotel at a holiday in for $160 2 nights cash- no credit card I got the price down from 185.....the indian guy as Americanized as it gets buried the 160 for far south in his pocket it wouldn't see the light of day if hell froze over....I even tell him no receipt he must have said when you come here you see me about 22 times in 3 minutes....

So im dead tired from the ac to md trip I go take a half hearted nap knowing there is a full slate of racing action at the adjecant otb at northeast.....

So I vividly remember getting in there about 3pm......tracks firing off left and right and I'm at the bar....very nice older lady whose tending bar and def far from ugly asks me what I'm drinking I say I'm
New to the area give me whatever you want.....so she makes me a long island ice tea:.....not what I has in mind but whatever....

So now that I have a drink laurel is the main draw here....the sound is actually piped through this whole place....

Freehold is 2mtp I bang a $40 exacta 2/1 it's as cold as nice the teller looks at me wondering if I have the money to pay it.....in her defense maybe there are other 31 year old players wearing lacoste with zero tattoos getting freehold but I doubt it.....the exacta comes in pays 6.20 like it had eyes.....I go cash for 124.....I tell her to keep the $4......now all the sudden everything is ok....

Times going by now it's the late double at lrl....the world is blasting a 1-1 double like the results were already in......I figure they must know.....now going into the late double I was up around 340......hit a Ton of races:...

I wind up betting this 1-1 double for 100......I hit the first leg I wanna say the horse pays $2.80 but I'm really not sure.....now when that race goes official they hang up 25mtp to race 9 or 10.....now when your me on a sat afternoon min is about 14 races.....now a calm comes over me and I start pondering my future....do I really want to be a pit boss wouldn't I be better off in ac with my beach house.....what an I gonna do in perryville md....etc etc etc..

Now the horses spill out onto the track and the 1 is sitting at 6/5.....I'm sick I figure he's dead......post parade is over and I go Back into thought.....at 6 mtp I come tO the cOnclusion I'm staying in ac....I feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders now.....

So know the 1 breaks dead last....on the turn he goes by the whole field like they were standing still......I hit the double it pays $5.20 I think....

I really liked this otb quiet didn't have the voucher vultures or the "guy who hit every race."

No I leave the otb and go back to the hotel and ask the owner if I can have my money Back he says no but I'll give u back 60.....I say fine and I go home and spend the night in ac....

If I had bricked the first half of the double I may have been in Maryland due 5 months already hahahaha

Cliffnotes;

- Went for 1st day of work training on alcohol

- went to check into the hotel

- couldn't sleep so went to otb

- between the lrl 8th and 9th decided not to change work locations

- left otb got partial refund and played 5 shoes of mini Bac when I got home

Will I be back at northeast otb if I'm in the area? Do bears s*** in the woods?!?

As a supervisor you have to have 4 hours or so in being able to notice if people are drunk or not.......can't stand it

That "alcohol awareness" training is such BS.
Casino staff here in Tahoe have to endure it as well.
People only ever get cut off if they are totally shit faced,
or giving staff a hard time.

Sounds like you need a trip to Vegas - the mecca of the poker world.

Probably a little different as most people aren't jumping in a car when they are done in Vegas. In Maryland, much more likely.

True.
Here in Tahoe, it's a security/surveillance issue to notify law enforcement if we see an impaired person getting into a vehicle.
Judgement call, though - and there is no "set in stone" policy on how to handle it.
To make matters worse, on a busy night, the Sheriff's office dispatchers have been known to hang up on you for a potential drunk driving call.

Didn't even dawn on me till rite now that I will have to do this f****** thing again next week......now I'm really livid

God forbid you just go to play cards and not drink....although in all fairness I've made some pretty big scores playing baccarat drunk....

I'm ready to start dedicating more time to poker playing....no reason I should let these morons get away with not playing against me.........I have do much talent in poker and I just refuse to play......

For some reason I feel like I'm wasting my life if I play cards.....but it's ok if I go to the track from 7pm-1130 3x a week....I make no sense and when I
Read these posts can't believe how stupid I sound.....true story

Nice post...

Friendly speaking though, you might need to review your betting selections, trying to be a bit more creative.. Betting 5.20 doubles is not the best approach to the game... You seem to posses the creative imagination and intelligence needed, so raise the bar and go for it...

Yes I totally agree:......usually when u see a double that looks cold I'll punch it.....and 8/10 times it punches me in the face.....this was the rare time I got it home
