I'm looking atthe card today ($400,000 + carryover) and am puzzled with the 9th race.

MSW 8.5

#2 Wholly John is the 5-2 favorite.

He ran twice as a 2 year old in 2002
Once as a 3 year old in 2003

He finished 11th, 8th and 4th

And now he is coming back after over 13 months off as the 5-3 ML favorite?

I do see a good trainer and jockey and some good works, but jeez, this seems a bit odd

Can someone chime in? Is he "really on his oats" or something like that?

Cheers (and good luck today)

I'd throw the horse out if it wasn't for CRAIG DOLLASE..other
than that the horse appears to be a closers and there is good speed in the race to get it back. The 414 day lay off is a joke..Only in cal can they get horses to run off of a long layoff.I think most
of those horses are household pets.I'd take the 1,4,8 to beat it.
Also the horse comes back in a rte.Just my opinion but leave it out of the pick 6.Hope speed holds up and this one is rank and
out of the box late...

Beware of throwing out any horse by this trainer. He does well with pretty much all kinds (layoffs, stretching out, turf/dirt, etc.) Not to mention that the ML favs win more than 40% of these types of races. Also the maturity factor might play a part.

Thanks Shanta, I bet the 1 and 4 to win as the 8 was a shorter
price than I'd like to play.At least someone is reading these. That guy SAL is pretty good at SAX also.I like to read his comments..LL
