"Hero" Kuroda has been lights out for NYY, not sure he's in the lead for this award, but he has to be in the top 5, he's in the convo, especially if he keeps pitching the way he's pitching. Its probably King Felix's award to lose, but if Hero can grind out a few more wins, he might get into the discussion.

Even though he has had tons of run support in some games Max Scherzer should definitely be in the conversation. Saw him pitch on Monday against Sale, and he was very impressive on the mound. If people want to run with the argument about all the help Scherzer has gotten in run support, then Sale should be at the top of the list as he basically has gotten ZERO support in most of his games while pitching very well. He struck out 11 hitters on Monday against the Tigers, the 5th time this season he has topped the 10 strikeout mark.

Sale? No way, he is 6-9. I know he hasn't had help, but there are others with much better records and/or similar ERA.

Darvish, Koruda, Moore, Iwakuma, etc.

Maybe but I only had him 4th, anyways. But he has had ZERO run support. He may have weird mechanics, but as a one time LH hitter, he might be the pitcher I'd least like to face. To a lefty hitter it has to look like the ball is coming from 1st base.

ERA is something they really take into consideration for this award. King won it a few years ago with a losing record (or barely winning record) and an awesome ERA. Kuroda has an amazing ERA for pitching in the AL east, the division that is normally considered "baseball's toughest'"

Right now King Felix is ahead and Kuroda needs his mates to step up big time when he pitches, that's the only shot he has, he's got to pile up more wins.

Wouldn't he look great in Seattle's rotation and Adam Jones in center field. One of many horrible trades made by Seattle's GMs in past years. Bedard is still doing his 5 IP, 100 pitch dance in Houston.

Bedard is a loser- no guts, I"ll take my check and pitch .500 for you the rest of the year. Thank God he is gone !!

One writer thinks Kuroda deserves the award...or, at least consideration.

Scherzer is 17 and 1 - Really any doubt ????

Yes. Max Scherzer is ranked number 1 when it comes to run support. The Tigers are giving him 5.92 runs per game. Hernandez is getting 4.24. Hernandez recently pitched a complete 1 run game and a 7ip 1 run game and lost both. Hernandez leads the AL in ERA by a very wide margin. I know Scherzer has 5 more wins then Hernandez, but that certainly wont be the deciding factor.

It's Max and King Felix with a clear lead heading into the far turn. I'm guessing Felix by a length at the wire.

Hernanez 2.28
Kuroda 2.33

Is a lead, but not by a wide margin.

I must have been looking at Kuroda's ERA pre Angels game. Either way Hernandez is still leading the AL in ERA and is well ahead of Scherzer in that category.
