"As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect," Braun said in the statement. "I realize now that I have made some mistakes."

Actually, Ryan, you did not acknowledge that. What you said was that you truly believed in your heart-- and who among us will ever forget that sincere moment where you placed your hand on the left-centre of your chest as you said the word "heart"-- that no such substance had ever entered your body.

Oh but wait, I see, you just didn't "realize" until now that you'd taken them.

{Would anyone buy a used vehicle from this guy?}

I have been a brewer fan because I live in the area but have never gone
overboard like some fans do. We like to believe our sports stars are clean
but can we really deep down think it is possible. As in horse racing there
will always be the deep dark corners where some are convinced it is worth
the risk to achieve success..I look at the news every day and see the
damage that drugs do to a person --lives ruined --careers smashed...
the same goes in horse racing except the horses have no say in the
matter..Ryan Braun will come back next year and no matter fans will
be screaming when he gets a big hit but not me. A lot of talk about
forgiving - I say why? If I wronged Ryan Braun would he be so forgiving?
I think not... his attitude has to be all for Ryan Braun and the hell with
anyone else...he should devote all his (time off) and a bundle of money
to public service to battle this problem..also go into therapy to try to
fix his mind which is certainly warped....doubt that will happen.

The Packers better keep Aaron Rodgers away from the Potowonami and Ho Chunk casinos. He made the comment "I'd bet my whole paycheck Ryan Braun didn't use PEDs". Great QB, not a very good gambler, apparently.

braun might be done in milw, if the fans wont accept him back he will be lustily boo'd every time at bat....do the brewers want to deal with that at home games? theyre in a tough spot, braun needs to find a way to make things right with those people, his apology didnt even seem sincere.

Was that even an apology? I liked that part where he said him and his family had to go through a lot. Wow, really feel sorry for the guy after that.

It rings very hollow, he's sorry he got caught, not sorry he did it. He's laughing all the way to the bank, he gets a vacation, unpaid, but he doesnt need the money so him not getting paid is no real skin off his nose.

Future payments owed to Braun, I see precedent setting lawsuits in the tea leaves.

2016 32 Milwaukee Brewers $19,000,000
2017 33 Milwaukee Brewers $19,000,000
2018 34 Milwaukee Brewers $19,000,000
2019 35 Milwaukee Brewers $18,000,000
2020 36 Milwaukee Brewers $16,000,000

braun needs to find a way to make things right with those people

The way things work, he'll go 4/5 with a walk-off homer against the Cubbies, and all those people will forget everything and go back to the brats and brews.

How about him painting himself as some sort of victim when he managed to get out of a suspension due to a technical error. I was a Brewer season ticket holder from 2010-2012 and he deserves no sympathy.

How about his insinuation during his first PED investigation that the sample collector might have tampered with the sample? Dragging down innocent people, jeopardizing their reputations-- that's seriously low. More than anything else, that's the reason why I do not respect Braun.

I wish I could say the people around here have more character but alas!!
I am afraid it is as you say...I wondered about him with all his injuries
this year. I don't know but I heard somewhere that is a side effect when
they go off the PED's small nagging muscle and tendon injuries because
they are not artificially pumped by the drugs...I may be mistaken on that
after all I am 70 now and have never been on ped's...my mistake I
could have been great..

Brewers fans are fair weather fans. I was a season ticket holder for 3 years, but I'm a Cub fan and wanted to guarantee good seats for 9 games. In 2008-2011, the fans came out and supported a solid team. By Memorial Day last year, you could see the lack of interest in the team in the Stub Hub prices. I was selling my other games on there, and prices fell. And once they traded Greinke, you couldn't give away tickets. I decided not to renew this year. Wisconsin fans have been spoiled by the Packers, who've been pretty good almost every year for the past 20 years (same with Badger football).

Pretty good story and Rodgers has been pretty quiet since the story broke. The guy who he said that to on twitter said he would settle for just a game check from him, but chances on that happenning are probably quite low.

And here are the follow up questions:

1) What should be done about records for all these lying cheats?

2) Should there be any difference in treatment across sports?

A1: The nature of sports has been heavily influenced by Lombardi's famous dictum. And there is nowhere in the world, where that hard core philosophy has been more heavily practiced than America. Cheating and winning have been synonymous since about the time of Bruce Jenner and the ever growing cult of personality has made that ever more practiced and required.

The bottom line is that there have been so many cheating, regardless of whether they've been caught ( L. Dykstra aka The Hulk being my personal fav), that all the names should stay in the record books. However, anyone caught or whose appearance made them look like a Marvel Comics Hero should get a cheat asterisk beside their names.

2) Whether you're Lance on a bike, Lyle Alzado, Ben Johnson, East German swimmers (Blood + Steroids), Norwegian skiers (Blood doping) or Braun, its doesn't matter- out them all.
