I can't believe i am doing this!

Looking at things to include in a Track Profile, i ran some queries re Post Position.

Eureka: Post position 3 returns a net profit for 6 furlongs and for 1 mile 1/16.

This applies to this year and to the past 5 years. It was just below breakeven in 2003.

The post position returns winners at about what would be expected by the number of runners.

Requiring odds of >10-1 just cuts the number of bets, but returns similar results. Odds below 2-1 are a slight hinderance on 'your' returns

Brian, your results may be skewed by a 6f winner at 72-1 on 1/3/04 and 1 1/16 winner on 77-1 winner on 2/9/03.


But in the odds range of <20-1, 244 6f horses in the 3 post returned a loss of but 8%. In 244 races at the 1 1/16 mile races, they returned only a 4% loss.

However, I have demonstrated such "promising figures" in the past , which unfortunately regress to the mean or about 18% loss.

If only the world was flat, we would have a level playng surface.
