I like the rules modification regarding entries - gives players a choice :ThmbUp:

As I understand it, if you specifically like only one half of the entry (which is often the case),
you state that on your play naming only the horse you like.
If your named horse happens to be scratched, you are not stuck with the other horse.
Should you like both horses, then put :1: / :1a: and name them both.
Easy peezy.

It makes the scoring harder, but it's a nice change.

Race 4
The :7: is my pick in the upcoming. Kind of likin' how the favorite has only ran on turf. chance of not showing up.

I also kind of like the :5: at those big odds. Undeserved of them if the trainer switch didn't in fact set him off. Maybe a few bad experiences in last made for those losses. Getting back on the poly at a spot where he has been close.

I would wheel the 7 and 5 on top of 10 6 2 1 and in vice versa

Of course I go with the 7...
Usually the way these things go. Even when I get payed in real life, I make the wrong decisions in these tournaments.:bang: :bang: :mad: :D :D

Couple of things on my mind.....

First ... I made it up to Saratoga Harness track yesterday (last night) ..miracle for me as it has been a Very Long Time ( maybe 8 -9 years ) since I was there.

Sat upstairs in their wagering room over the casino. Nice size crowd from what I last seen.

Well, I realize it was a Very Long Time since I was there.... but jeezes, I did not mean to "Shock them" so bad. Sitting there watching DelMar, Meadowlands, Mohwak, Saratoga Harness and all the beaties at The Meadows, and BAM the whole place loses power. Severe thunderstorm at the track and downpour so bad, the live race at Saratoga was delayed..... apparently, they cancelled the last few races also.

ANYWAY... about Del Toga Contest.

I was watching DelMar and in Race 7 there was an incident I witnessed and could not believe the stewards decision. Horse #4 Eddies Curl with Corey Nakatani after springing out of the starting gate, turned LEFT and body slammed into the #3 horse. Race continues on and the #4 horse finishes second to the Big Favorite #1.

Inquiry ( as should be ) .. but NO change in order... Stewards say the incident happened in the part of the race that the incident has NO bearing.

Thanks Stewards... another reason horse racing is getting a bad name.,

Track collected my phone said 5:13 when I posted my pick and on the Saratoga feed when I went back to video said 5:12 off time or 5:13 either way I think that play went in after the race started sorry

I was wondering why there were no results showing anywhere for Del Mar's 10th race on Saturday 8/24/2013

Here is what happened....


False start when #6 broke thru the gate at the springing of the gate.. no jockey aboard, assistant starter hanging on.. horse takes a sharp left... other horses had trouble leaving the gate.

Under California Racing and Wagering Rules,,, Race declared a NO CONTEST.

Heck, I could barely tally up the scores of 15, or so, golfers recently on here.

Relative newcomers, turffan and 122425, could be the sleepers who force things. wiffleball "the wild man" whizz seems uncharacteristially quite but maybe the gambler in him steps up to play (see Trotter's final days in the ASD Challenge).

Veteran players like tiger rose, Light and goatchaser will keep on swinging until we're done.

The slumping cj is still not out of it. I would look for some key final weekend plays.

Basically, it'll come down to the final day!

Trust me I'm pondering a power play here.....I really can't make up any ground here.......but 2nd place gotta make a move.....if it turns into a pissing match maybe I can sneak through the backdoor but this is where my inexperience comes into play but this is far from over I mean is second place just gonna hand it to horses4 courses?!?? Is he gonna be like birdstone and make smarty jones "earn it today"?

Also curious as to why proximity, thaskalos manU and even PA himself aren't in this?!?! Is the owner of this site barred because he has a hit rate of 99.7 percent? Maybe PA is thinking "maybe I'll let the little people have some fun"...

I've heard stories in various racebooks in the USA that PA himself has walked into various handicapping contests with $1000 entry fees that the other players offered him first place money just to save time.....they figured once PA parked the car and walked into the contest everybody was playing for 2nd place money and figured to save 4 hours........100 percent fact!!

I'm here to win this thing just a few questions....on wendsday can there be sometimg done to prevent in the last race me hitting a $22.40 piece in the nightcap only to see that H4C "checkered on checkerd me as they were loading and I go back and see he snuck the play in ahead of me......valid question

As the leader he has EVERY rite to do this but it would suck if I watched the race and hit it only to see at the last second he copied my play....again the as the leader the ball is in his court...

I got work till 6 weds so these last 3 races wendsday is what it's all about!!

WOW what a contest finish this is going to be.

If it was not for a severe lightening storm over top of my residence last night, I would have been on line watching and waiting to "pull the trigger " at Del Mar.

Put alias, I had to shut down for protection of the ole computer hard drive.

Not red boarding here... but I was leaning towards My Gi Gi in the 9th race and / or possibly Artic North in the 11th.

Like I mentioned , I turned off and unplugged the machine, my only source to watch the odds/races and to post.... guess I should of just posted both picks early and took my chances.

My Gi Gi took a beating in her race ... lucky not to get injured from the replay I watched. finished third ...$5.20

Artic North won the 11th race and paid ... $16.60... $7.80...5.60

Think that would of bolted me into the thick of things. :sleeping:

Oh well..

what a shame this contest is not continuing for 2016...a great contest...the del mar / saratoga contest...pick 15 from both tracks for a limit of 60 selections during the contest..a really , really great contest..
