Was thinking randomly tonight while doing nothing certain things in sports if I could make life time bets here are a few what would you guys bet.....and let me be clear in a perfect world we would be the happiest people on earth if we lost every bet but were ALIVE to pay lololol here are a few.....again these are 50 year bets

Will a baseball player hit .400

Will the Kansas city royals win a world series

Will the Cleveland browns win a Super Bowl

Will there be a triple crown in horse racing

Will somebody break joe D 56 game hit streak

Will a non bcs team win the NCAA football championship

Will a horse beat secretariats winning Belmont time

Will a 16 seed beat a 1 seed in a tourney game

Will somebody score a 100 in a nba game

These are just a few off the top of my head what do you guys think...

For the record my answer to all of these are no.....and the 2 I feel most strongly about are the no triple crown winner and the royals not winning world series

Q. Will a baseball player hit .400?
A. No. The game would have to change significantly first. Starters going a full 9 innings would have to become commonplace again.

Q. Will the Kansas city royals win a world series?
A. Yes. KC won it in '85. Given a 50 year window no reason they can't do it again.

Q. Will the Cleveland browns win a Super Bowl?
A. Yes.

Q. Will there be a triple crown in horse racing?
A. Yes. We've seen several near misses since the last one. (50 years is a really long time.)

Q. Will somebody break joe D 56 game hit streak?
A. No. Some records aren't made to be broken.

Q. Will a non bcs team win the NCAA football championship?
A. Yes. I say that because I see the BCS being scrapped given a 50 year time horizon.

Q. Will a horse beat secretariats winning Belmont time?
A. No. Another great horse might come along. However, the odds of that happening multiplied by the odds him being SENT out that fast have got to be astronomical.

Q. Will a 16 seed beat a 1 seed in a tourney game?
A. Yes.

Q. Will somebody score a 100 in a nba game?
A. No.

I would bet they all will be broken except for the following:
Joe D's hitting streak
Secretariats Belmont time.
Scoring 100 pts in an NBA game.
One 50 year futures bet that I might add in 50 years would be if a NL player will win a batting triple crown. Pretty rare, hasn't been done since 1933. I don't think you are going to see a starting pitcher win 30 games in 50 years again either since Denny Mclain.

Sports change so much in 50 years that none is safe. The safest is Secretariat's record because so few races are run at 1 mile and half and don't expect that to change although I believe faster surfaces are in the future. The Browns and the Royals have chance, but most likeliest is the 100 points in a NBA game. It would not shock me to it next season although it is unlikely. I think the NBA will change the rules to increase scoring at some time in the future. A 16 beating a one is close second. The baseball ones just depend what rules are changed with the .400 average the more likely of the two. If they didn't freeze the balls in Denver, the 400 thing would have already happened. Just think what a juiced Barry Bonds could have done there pre-freezing. Even now, if one of the great young hitters end up there, watch out!

I think we will see a 16 seed knock off a 1 seed within the next 10 years... The gap in college basketball is so small these days that it is bound to happen.

They still have 4 games to win, and will probably not be favored.

They will be favored.
If only because they potentially have 4 home games.

Being on such a win streak, too, they have
to be at least -1.50 to win the WS.
Maybe higher.

*Update - currently I'm seeing -1.25 on KC.
I thought it would be higher.

Three or more of those will happen before one of these:

A) An NFL team loses more than 26 in a row (Tampa Bay 76-77)

B) A MLB team has more than 20 straight losing seasons (Pittsburg 93-2012)

C) Cubs win a World Series.

Still alive after that rally, and if the Royals don't win this year, it is pretty close to a cinch.

Who needs sports wagering, when we have the largest casino in the world? Real wagering has been legal in all 50 states for years through the "US Stock Market Casino & Resort".........and they'll resort to anything.

All the more reason why sports wagering should be legal.

Only fat salaried sports league execs, Nevada casino execs,
illegal bookies, and a few bible thumpers, want it illegal.
Nice bunch.....

In all seriousness, legislation has been drawn up to pass nationalized on-line poker, with horse racing(per my conversations with NTRA legal) possibly piggy-backed or Grandfathered in. Las Vegas Casino Corp. lobbyists are pressuring to have full scale on-line gambling, which may include sports wagering. Looking at the U.K. and its gaming model and laws as a reference, the US could possibly see ALL on-line wagering come to fruition in the next 3 to 5 years. The biggest obstacle of course is MONEY, and who gets what "cut".......

Happy to say I was wrong about the Royals. What a fabulous team to watch play.

After witnessing the 1969 Mets, it's hard saying never to a world series. :)
