One of my all-time favorite riders. It might not have been true but Eddie D on the outside was always something to wait for and watch. And when it did happen, what fun it was to watch!

Congrats.

Yeah, he is deserving. I remember at the La. tracks and OP, back in the day, there were so many good jocks, Day, Snider, Howard, Eddie D, Ardoin, Romero, Bourque, Whited, Court, Borel, etc.. Lots of talent!

Eddie D.
He was so very good.
He sat chilly as well as any jockey I ever saw.
He had so many skills it was scary.
Great hands.
He didn't really need the stick.....
He could get the most out of his horse without it.
The one thing he might of been the best at was stopping and going on a horse.
Send em to the lead, if the pace gets too hot slow em down then let them roll again.
A natural.

I cut my teeth at Del Mar in the 80's - I was a hot mess as a bettor, but my few memories of good scores involve mostly Laffit and Eddie D. Nobody held a horse together better than Laffit, and nobody brought one from off the pace better than Eddie D. And Pat V. usually gave them something good to run at!
