I know about Maidenwatch blog at Bloodhorse but are there other places to learn more about and follow up and coming 2 YO's?

Not exactly what you're looking for as this site is for British 2yo's
but has a lot of articles on what to look for

NYRA used to have some sort of "firsters" section on their site that highlighted impressive debut winners. I haven't looked to see if it is there this year. The @Derbycontenders twitter account follows the whole juvenile male division and links to lots of good content. There was a link earlier for a section of the Chef-de-Race site for stakes winners. And I think TDN has a rising star section of some sort, though that is all ages.
