Really a shame. I could be seeing things but if you watch the head-on of the break it kind of looks like he's already favoring it a bit right there, which if true would mean he won this race in a lot of discomfort, tough horse. Retirement (though not yet officially announced) is well deserved IMO.

My initial reaction to this is "now we know why Shug scratched him at CD".
Running a horse on ground that he/she doesn't like is best avoided.

Truth is, though, that this injury could have happened at any time - on any type of turf surface.

That doesn't make it any easier to swallow.

That's a shame, this is a really nice horse. The win yesterday was all about guts and class.
