One of the 7 people in the stands had to run out into the horses turning for home.....my fault for betting harness racing....judges should be suspended for life for such a bad call

Just what are the judges supposed to do? Maybe the judge riding in the starting gate should have ordered the driver to speed up and run the guy over before he could cause such havoc. You lost a bet because some guy was drunk or stupid or both. Deal with it. It was not the judges fault.

The five was the only horse who clearly was compromised by the incident. He was declared a non starter and money refunded. Some of the horses in the back had to alter course and go around him. That may have hurt their chances, but would you have complained if the man had not been there and the five had simply gone off stride? The interesting thing is that neither of the horses flanking the five went off stride.

What I forgot to say before cuz I was livid was the race supposed to be a no contest period end of sentence.....horses had to alter there course when this happened............wtf........why was the 5 not substituted in the pick 4....I'll be calling the IRB bright and early tnrw....

The race is at YouTube:

Go to 1:40....then several replays are provided thereafter.

I read elsewhere the man told security he was looking for his dog.

What a nutcase. Could have been killed.

Called the IRB earlier left a message....called a friend who is very familiar with Chicago harness and he told me that all the pick 4 money on the 5 shifted to the next favorite......how bs is this when they made the determination 10 minutes after the fact.....

Has anybody here ever seen anything like this? I mean come on here.....got this pick 4 if they don't rob me like this....this is no different then somebody walking in my house and stealing 700 out of my drawer

This race made deadspin.com and a host of other sites

The 5 clearly caused interference to the 9 so why isn't this refunded???,

Half mile ovals always mention they are closer to the action.
Now I understand what they mean. Would be much more difficult to pull this stunt at Balmoral

This idiot will have troubles at the Meadowlands when they move the backstretch to the other side. He won't know if he is coming or going.

I don't follow the Chicago circuit too much does this occur in pace races
more often than trot races?

Forget the pick 4 if they made the race a no contest you would have complained your rebate was zero.

Not 100% positive but I think Maywood only has 1 trot race a year, the Galt Stakes for 3yo

I think the Artax incident was much more dangerous than this one.

Just proves that some harness racing fans are as nutty as football, soccor fans etc.
