What is the difference between a clip and a magazine?
Which did the Army's .45 cal pistol use? I mean the one they used during WWII, Korea and Viet Nam?
Was it called a Colt? Or a Browning? Or something else?
Who invented the machine gun? Not the Gatling gun but the kind where all the rounds go down the same barrel?

Colt pistol 1911A1 - magazine, manufactured for the govt by many other companies besides Colt through the years. I had one by Remington-Rand. Designed by John Browning.

A clip holds the bullets in place, think machine gun belt. A magazine as used in the 1911.

Sir Hiram Vickers invented the first self0powered machine gun. I think thats the type you are talking. there were percussian machine guns with revolving barrels, thet were invented by another Englishman. If you mean bullets on a belt held by CLIPS it was Vickers,

The first practical machine gun was the Maxim Gun, invented by American Hiram Maxim in 1884. The Vickers was based on the Maxim and came later. The Maxim's first combat use was believed to have been in Rhodesia during the First Matabele War 1893-1894. In one noteworthy battle, a British Constabulary Force of just 50 men crushed a force estimated at between 1500 to perhaps as many as 5000 warriors, armed with just 4 of the new deadly guns.
