Does anyone kow if they have wi-fi?

There are two buffets Sunday for Mother's Day listed on their website, the Turf Club one for $50 seems like a good deal compared to the other one (if it is correct, that is you can only choose one entree? what I can't have French toast and steak?).

Don't see any entries yet, should be a dreadful meet racing wise, chepa claimers and Jersey breds but it is a great place to visit.

I just play the turf races - those who raced at AC last out no matter what the finish.

They offer 2 new bets: A 10 cent Rainbow 6 type of bet called the Jersey Shore 6 and a $5 quinella in the last race. Does anybody bet quinellas anymore? And at $5 a pop? And how has the Rainbox 6 worked out for GP? Seems like a sucker bet unless there's a big carryover or mandatory payout.
I love Monmouth, but not these 2 new bets. I wish they would have invested in an additional toteboard and huge video screen near the picnic area like they promised last year instead of new bars. I'll probably go this Saturday with my cooler and some cigars. I too am wondering if they'll have wifi.

The Rainbow 6 at GP was immensely popular and made a big splash. It was just a matter of time before another track picked it up. Personally, since it's a 10 cent bet, I think it's worth a shot sometimes.

Gulfstream was not the first track to have this bet, Beulah had the same format, i don't remember if they did it for a dime or not.

the wager turned out to be a rotten bet until the last day in Gulfstream. it paid big for what it was..one guy took out over $1 million from the pool.

Yeah, it don't look so bad opening day.

The Jim Mazur Monmouth guide is always worth checking out. i know some years they gave it away free at a certain promotion.

Well if Opening Day is any indication....they have 12 races & managed to squeeze one turf race in...a 20k claimer nw 2.

on the wi-fi question

From the Asbury Park Press-
"Monmouth has also installed a facility-wide Wi-Fi system that will enable bettors to place wagers on their smartphone or tablet computer.

Charging a kid $25.00 for the buffet is criminal.

Plus they have 36 holes of miniature golf!…I got a mailer from Monmouth Park, no mention of any wagers Monmouth Park is offering, but tells all about the miniature golf course…If miniature golf can’t save NJ racing nothing will.

(grandstand parking, which use to be free, is now $4. The ironic thing is there will be more grass growing in the asphalt parking lot than in the Bluegrass Miniature Golf Course)

River Downs? I wasn't aware of that. Where are the horseman going to go? Indiana Downs has better purses than Beulah. There won't be any shortage of $4k claimers at Beulah.

The Rainbow 6 worked for GP as it is a premier race meet with top horses and high handle. That will not be the case at MTH.

Another thing is Delaware is not opening until next week and soon along with Parx will be offering turf racing for higher purses than MTH. Also they have too may races per day, no need to run twelve on a Saturday or a Sunday. Run 10 on the weekends when they don't have a big race and add Thursdays and run 8-9.

It can get quite cold at Monmouth in May and even June when the wind comes off the ocean.

Calder has it at a lower take and even before the whole signal snafu it was pulling in maybe $4000 on a good day. Monmouth will likely fall in between the two.

Assuming you mean River Downs, is that track slated to reopen for live racing? Or is it another one for the history books?

To yourself and Valuist. They tore the everything down but the clubhouse and are moving the track about literally a quarter mile north from where it was. They are planning to reopen next year, with new turf course and a new facility to accommodate slots. It's pretty cool looking actually, here's a link below. This summer they plan to run a meet at Beulah Park with River's race dates. Not sure when.

The photo gallery of the new racino is at the bottom of the page;

How long would it take to build the actual racetrack a few months??

And is there a reason that the turf course is usually elevated about 3-5 feet above the main track just for water drainage?

Was on the turf course at atlantic city and the climb from in between the main and turf course was pretty steep....wonder why
