Show wagering on a 3-horse field

The 1st race today at Emerald Downs had a 4-horse field when the gates opened, but #5 (Mile Easy) was declared a non-starter as it was ruled she was given an unfair start.

The remaining three horses in the race all had show payoffs. This is first race I've ever seen where you couldn't lose, no matter which horse you had bet to show.

At Fairmount, show wagering isn't even allowed with five horse fields.

Years ago at Albuquerque, late scratches resulted in a walk-over race.

The race official sign and $2.10 Win payoff was posted on the tote board about 5 seconds after the horse jogged past the finish line. :eek:
