I have a dumb question to ask:

How does this country support itself financially? To my knowledge, it has no exports. From where do they derive their income ? The country has a million +man army and nuclear weapons. How does this happen ?

They get some foreign exchange from factory production at an industial complex at the border with South korea. (N korean labor for s korean companies)

Thanks for the links. I just look at NK as an extension of Iraq, Afghanistan, and others as countries offering zero to the world in terms of goods, products, research, etc...

China has always kept them afloat with Oil + Food.

If they tire of their constant, ginned up shenanigans and pull the plug, NK is literally DOA!

Kim Jong Un in my eyes is much like Jesse Jackson, desperate to be in today's news. If we play it correctly he will be the zit on China'a ass and not ours.
Forget about popping his top, again our moneys are better not spent as foolishly as we have been of late.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea is warning that the release of a new American comedy about a plot to assassinate leader Kim Jong Un would be an "act of war."

If the U.S. government doesn't block the movie's release, it will face "stern" and "merciless" retaliation, an unidentified spokesman for North Korea's Foreign Ministry said in state media Wednesday.

I need to get into the film business and get this half-pint of whipping cream to declare on me next.

They rely heavily on China, especially for food. Food is rationed and malnutrition is epidemic.

They make some money from the manufacture and export of weapons (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-11-10/north-korea-exports-100-million-of-arms-each-year-in-breach-of-sanctions.html).

Looks like James Franco and Seth Rogen have really pissed off Kim Jung Un.
North Korea describes the pending release of this movie as "an act of war".

Usually bypass fluff like this, but now may take in this film. Great free publicity, do the North Koreans get a cut of the now nearly assured increased box office take?

There's every possibilty of this - 5% of royalties to Pyongyang.

I'm surprised he hasn't demanded an acting role to play himself,
plus another for his buddy, Dennis Rodman, to play his bodyguard.

Dennis would likely insist on wearing a dress. The Worm in drag would not go over too well I think.

Did he die?
Rats.
I was hoping for month of suffering in extreme pain for something or other.

Hey, Kim Jong Dung.....don't bury him, spread him around as the fertilizer he really is.

Nah....he's just a bit gimpy.
I'm thinking his lifestyle hardly fits in the "fit and healthy" category.

Seems that China isn't too happy with
some of their N. Korean neighbors.

Chop a bunch of holes in the ice........

Seriously, though, North Korea is highly unstable - as we all know.
China is the only power that props them up to some degree.
Anything that damages their relationship should be welcomed.

Not being on the Gold Standard for about 45 years, it won't match, but sure is important as a strong sign of stability.
