No doubt about that... was wondering how Rosario ended up that far back until they popped the opening quarter... the way he got rolling on the turn, I thought he was almost certain to run by the top two by midstretch and those two up top just stuck and stuck and stuck and he was all out to get up for second... tough course to play when its like that.

I can't get past :9: Eagles Landed Sr - but this is a pretty tough race. I hate these 250 yarders.

7-5 fave wins easily - nine can do no better than third and gets knocked down to 5-1 late. I suppose if you were to get creative with dime supers or a tri or something and just key those two around the others, there was some money to be made with an $84 dimer and a huge $354 tri.

Wacky bunch going 870 here - really not too many bad prices to be found anywhere here if you actually like something.

I'll take one at either end of the field:

:3: Sweet Pea Reeves - It seems the big horse has probably lost a step or three, but if he breaks sharp, he still may be the fastest. Always have to worry that he'll blow the turn, but when he's at his best or close to it, he's pretty darn salty against cheap 870 types.

:5: Be The Worm - Of the thoroughbreds here, this is the only one I expect to be a fair price, probably 6-1 or thereabouts. Has run well enough with these types in the past and usually tries pretty hard. If it falls apart, he could easily be last man standing.

Not a very exciting betting proposition, but at least they can be entertaining to watch and laugh at all the crazy rides. :D

Broke a step slow and chased from third, got out per normal in the turn, and rallied up at 6-1 for second behind 8-5 favorite.

Oh well, a formful 1000 yarder, followed by a formful 250 yarder, followed by a formful 870 yarder... Whodathunkit? :D

Can't come with a longshot here, but unless one or the other just doesn't fire, I can't imagine the :1: and :3: not running 1-2 here. The one got in all kind of trouble last time at the rail just as she was threatening to run up to win. The three is just kind of an honest chugalugger that always finds a filly or two that she simply can't outrun. In this spot, other than the one, I don't really think there's anyone that can assume that role.

The exactas were paying $10 and $9 respectively a few minutes ago. If that holds up, that's not too bad since I expect they'll both be under 2-1 in some capacity. You never know what kind of pay you may get out of a super pool, but if you wanted to piece together a cheap play to shoot for a better return than exacta pools offer, I'd probably use those two in the top spots with the :2: and :6: keyed in third and fourth to the field in the remaining spot. (1,3 / 1,3 / 2,6 / ALL; 1,3 / 1,3 / ALL / 2,6 = $24)

Oh for the love of everything... I can't even begin comprehend how both of those two could possibly run the worst race of the meet for both, while both in probably the easiest spot all meet for both. My gawd, I'm glad that I'm here wasting time on the computer instead of at the track because I would have gotten absolutely destroyed there. If there was one race today that I thought WOULD run to form, that was it... pull the curtain over and give me the shot doc...

Race 6 @ TuP is pretty tough to like anything. Off-form, descending in class, coming off the bench... just about every horse is hard to like at all. Just to make it worse, they are going five-eighths and most can rattle off a :22 quarter if needed.

Too bad Vergara got hurt because I could like :5: Zee Throne at 6-1 coming off the long break. At least he can make a run from off the pace and being fresh, even if he needs one, he could be playable. I think Morales picked him up here and not to hip on playing him as a pickup rider on a cheap clippityclopper thats been off for half a year and he's probably never seen until the paddock.

TuP 7 is another I don't know if I could get too excited to play - it looks like almost every filly in the race wants to be on the pace. If :6: Mame's Flame had stuck near her 9-2 M/L, I could see going that way since she has had some success not only rallying into quick splits, but at this level, and at the distance and surface, unlike many of these.

But, she's been down around 5-2 for some time and looks like she'll be off around that price. Maybe using the :4: (currently 14-1) underneath her could be a play. She made a decent move into the pace last time, but then she hung pretty badly late, so not so sure either that she really wants to go two turns or run at the level.

I'll wait for Chris to come with something that pays quintuple digits. :D

This 16k claimer in the 8th is more competitive than half the stakes we run at TuP. Really, a great collection of hard knockers, just about all of which have it in them to run big enough to at least threaten to win. I can't even narrow it down to five here. :D

But, I'm just going with three of my favorites that are somewhere between good prices and huge prices.

I really like :10: Including Gold last time against the great old Danzip and he almost pulled off the upset. A repeat of that race and he's got to be tough here - not thrilled with the outside draw.

The other two just shouldn't be nearly the price that they are in here. Deservedly longshots, but those prices are ridiculous, especially on Born Force.

Good betting race in the last - bunch of cheapie nw/Dec or four life six and a half furlong model clunkers - and its right up Chris' alley because there is almost nothing but square prices (I'm gonna take a guess that he has World of Color in his picks).

I've never played this horse in my life and have actually avoided playing him as often as possible, but at 9-1 nearing 2MTP, :7: Pop The Cork seems to be much to big a price on this move down to a N4L sprint. Won the N3L condition for $10k early in the meet and since has been in every tough open race they could possibly dream up for him. This is where he should have been all along. Yes, last time he ran at this level - but it was a mile race - and it was in that spell of days where the bias was so pronounced that horses literally ran around in order without a change in position from start to finish for days. He had no shot in there no matter what.

Cutting back to a sprint here, getting the right condition, and should get a good setup in front of him IF he has anything left. It's a big 'IF', but the price is right (now 12-1) to roll the dice. I'm not thrilled with the choice of jocks for him as I have to assume that KB will be trying to pass horses on the turn way out in the middle of the track on this one. So, he'll probably need to be much the best here.

Or just play whatever Chris posts! :D

no doubt in my mind, this was one of the greatest coldconks i have ever seen on this board.

looking back at the race, my fair odds on the 9 was 16-1. so if my line means anything, that horse was quite an over lay.
