I'm particularly fond of Russell Baze after today's 3rd race at GG. ;)

Go go is amazing, no doubt.

Angel.

When Angel was at his best, he was the the best I ever saw.

Steve Cauthen was the best apprentice I ever saw. That one period was mind boggling. It felt like every horse he got on moved way up, he was winning every photo, winning multiple races every day. He was crazy hot.

What is a total jaggy? I've also, as I'm sure many others have, wondered why Baffert doesn't use him more often. But he's got Bajerano on first call, maybe Gomez doesn't want to play 2nd fiddle.

jaggy means jagoff plus second fiddle to baffert is better than no call, there must be more to the story.

Choices many could well agree on .
I will add Cash Asmussen as a gifted apprentice . Both eventually went on to Europe to ride.

Have you been here before under another name?

If so, I can understand. People get kicked off of here, or leave of their own accord, and end up somewhere where the well is comparatively dry in terms of posting action...so they invariably make their way back, often under a new identity...Sometimes I feel like the casino eye-in-the-sky trying to keep the card counters out of the joint...

In all reality I don't think there is a "one" best jockey of all time. There are so many good jockeys that I don't think it's possible to pinpoint a best one.

Everyone needs a hobby/avocation. Running out the retreads is your lot. ;)

Back onto the main topic, Gomez is not the best jockey in my lifetime but damn is he good at getting horses to stay well off the pace and charge for the win.

I look at the top jockeys through the years, and I believe you can put a group together of 10-15 of them,
at any given time, who are in the top flight.
Who is leading that group changes from time to time, as it does in many individual sports (like tennis or golf).

No question, Gomez is right up there.
But, so are Bejarano, Castellano, Rosario, and several others.
Ramon Dominguez was ahead of all of them, until he got hurt.
So, to say that someone is the best is usually a subjective opinion.
Closer to the truth is to say that a group of them can all ride their asses off!

My favorite money jock of all time?

Gomez is probably best riding now. He gets horses to go through places nobody else does. Jose Santos in his prime was a lot him.

Didn't they have a falling out after Gomez had Looking at Lucky in a bad position a couple of races in a row after not following Bafferts instructions?

You guys are all wrong.

It's the jockeys who ride for Ness, or Chambers, or any super trainer.

How could you not think a 35%+ jockey is the best?

Current day - if I had to pick any rider, it would be Johnny V. He can win wire to wire and has the patience/skill to navigate a closer. Not sure where he stands all time but I'm a big fan.
